Saw a bunch of new unique visitors (a stat that I actually care about) coming from http://photoshopdisasters.blogspot.com/2008/06/azoogle-this-was-really-well-thought.html. They featured the fake check/picture that AzoogleAds used in a few magazine ads like over a year ago.
The really cool stat is that the users stayed around an average of 3 minutes coming from the gallery and reading posts and some even subscribing the the feed. Welcome new users!
Its pretty awesome to get traffic from sources outside of your niche.
The thread was doing really well until one of their ace detectives quoted text from the page:

Anonymous said…The original page actually states that it’s a poor photoshop:
“This is not a real check it was for a Magazine Ad for AzoogleAds. Yes its photoshop’d (badly). It was an amazingly good campaign for them. Its been on numerous websites who think they have discovered it was fake… even though it says it here. Good for traffic
.”
The other comments are pretty hilarious including one about they should have photoshopped in a toupee too lol!
Anyway check it out:

I haven’t had such fun for a long time. Shoe, thank you very much for the excellent mood.
Nice, great site…
That is pretty funny and the comment on how he just knows IT HAS TO BE REAL because he knows how to fake images is funny.
Hey Jeremy,
Here is a modified pic with reflection of the check in the car:

Cheers,

Thats really funny.
ha..ha..ha that was a lol picture , the funny is it brings a lot of people to coment it,
That is the most hilarious thing I’ve seen in a minute!
Its amazing what you can do with a photograph these days. Nice link.
i had seen some of most obvious scammer here in Malaysia. Trust me, there is worser out there
The best part: P S D added their own watermark to this image, somehow claiming it as theirs.
I think it did the trick. Because of the controversy over the original check, spelling hundred wrong and the obvious photoshop is the icing on the cake. I liked it.
what that check was fake??? what a scam!
Hey, you do know how to smile!
Nice one Shoe..is your check edited too? Just kidding..huhu
I’ve been reading that photoshop site for over an hour now!!! It’s great how bad some pics are edited. haah.
Cheers for the link shoe!
Damn! Well anyway, I still enjoy an ad check of any kind if its got a lot of money written on it, it’s still motivating none the less!
Thats pretty funny. Any press is good press.
I enjoy photoshopped anything, will check it out now!
never really noticed it says hunderd lol
Its awesome to get hits from something outside your niche. it just happened to me the other day, someone from moneycentral at msn picked up on a comment I wrote on another blog and I got a ton of hits that day (a ton by my standards, not yours, i’m sure)
he tracks it with google analytics i believe
photoshopped the toupee? LOL
That’s funny. Genius knows no boundaries.
Jeremy, what do you track your sites stats with?
One of the commenters: “The model has such a smart ass look on his face. Hahah.”
Jeremy, you’re a model!
LOL! It does say “hunderd” hahaha
five “Hundered” thousand dollars
)
Maybe you can have a “Fix This Photo” contest?
Yeah, you notice the lack of a reflection right away.
The facts are there is people actually making that much money more then what people think
how do these idiots even think it’s real in the first place, its so obviously not lol
maybe u should run a photoshop contest, see who can come up with the best photoshoped image or maybe a caption contest.
I wonder if this post will make people wonder whether or not the Shoemoney AdSense check is Photoshopped? It looks authentic to me.
Nice, the more the merrier!
Great site, had some good minutes laughing about the pictures. Thanks!
Haha. nice. I hadn’t seen that photo before!
Actually…you need to drop the “/” at end of the the URL.
Jeremy, “PhotoshopDisasters” is a dead link…might want to fix :.)
Haha, nice! Welcome Shoenewbies!
