AzoogleAds Check Featured On Photoshop Disasters

Posted June 21st, 2008 by Jeremy Schoemaker

Saw a bunch of new unique visitors (a stat that I actually care about) coming from http://photoshopdisasters.blogspot.com/2008/06/azoogle-this-was-really-well-thought.html. They featured the fake check/picture that AzoogleAds used in a few magazine ads like over a year ago.

The really cool stat is that the users stayed around an average of 3 minutes coming from the gallery and reading posts and some even subscribing the the feed. Welcome new users!

Its pretty awesome to get traffic from sources outside of your niche.

The thread was doing really well until one of their ace detectives quoted text from the page:

The original page actually states that it’s a poor photoshop:

“This is not a real check it was for a Magazine Ad for AzoogleAds. Yes its photoshop’d (badly). It was an amazingly good campaign for them. Its been on numerous websites who think they have discovered it was fake… even though it says it here. Good for traffic ;) .”

The other comments are pretty hilarious including one about they should have photoshopped in a toupee too lol!

Anyway check it out:

The best part: P S D added their own watermark to this image, somehow claiming it as theirs.

I think it did the trick. Because of the controversy over the original check, spelling hundred wrong and the obvious photoshop is the icing on the cake. I liked it.
