Elite Retreat 2008 San Fran Recap

by Jeremy Schoemaker on April 14, 2008 · 25 comments

The 2008 Elite Retreat event is already over. This years event was truly different. It was the first one that was 100% operated by the “ShoeMoney” staff and wow its not easy ;) . Tigh did a awesome job coordinating everything and Dr. David Klein also stepped in and helped us out a lot.

Here are some of the attendees reviews so far:

Barbara Boser – Elite Retreat

Scott Hendison part 1 and part 2

Zac Johnson – Elite Retreat Networking and Fun Times in San Francisco

Justin Golf – recap – Was it worth the $5000???

John Hasson Elite Retreat 2008 Review

Al Carlton Elite Retreat First Impressions

Gyutae Park Is elite retreat worth 5k?

(these are the ones I found so far. If I missed any please ping me and I will add them)

I have added pictures from this years event to my gallery already (thanks dk!) and will be adding them to the official Elite Retreat site soon.

I have also been getting a lot of questions about having more Elite Retreat events and also making it less expensive and open to more people. If we do another event the last thing I doubt that will ever be changed will be the price point and the cap of only 35 attendees. I really believe that is a big part of what makes the event so special. As far as having more events …. honestly 1 per year is all I really want to deal with at this point.

I want to thank all the speakers. They all did a awesome job! Andy Liu was really the sleeper of the bunch. Andy has always been a behind the scenes guy and I think he had everyone in the room taking notes on the amazing stuff he has been able to accomplish. Andy was also very open about exactly how he did it. I know I have about 2 pages of notes myself ;)

So big thanks again to all the speakers:

Neil Patel

Brian Clark

Andy Liu

Aaron Wall

and special guest keynote speakers:

Guy Kawasaki

Matt Mullenweg

And to the sponsors! Thanks for listening and paying for all the cool things I wanted to do at this years event!

I did have a very good time, thanks for organizing it. And I gotta say, ebooks on iPods – that was worth it alone, brilliant. I really enjoyed a few on my trip back to NY.

Shoe maybe for the folks who can’t afford the big bucks maybe some sort of Shoemoney presentation done at one of the bigger industry shows that you plan on attending. It won’t be as in depth as the retreat but you could put together a nice presentation with maybe one or two other folks. One of those roundtables. Plus anyone who prereg gets their site thrown into a draw so it might be reviewed by the panel.

Shoe…you should sell a DVD or recording of these events, so i can watch them on my downstairs DVD player, not on my computer because my 3 year old son Rocco is beside the room that my computer is in and he goes to bed at 7:30pm. They are worth probably around $90 bucks…

Hey Gyutae, I was looking through the pics and didn’t see you, but I noticed some new ones and saw you in the limo. Looks like quite an even, I’ll have to read all the reviews when I get the chance.

This came and went pretty quick. Glad it was a success.

It seems your arch nemisis ;-) is on his way to SF now for an event.

I’m reading about different events every other day now I think.

Any video from the event available? Am resident in South Africa, at the southernmost tip of the dark continent, and the reality is that I won’t be able to afford attending one of the international events with flights and accommodation and time off work factored in. Will be able to afford video / DVD of event / speakers though.

I am still in awe about the event. If it had cost me $20,000 to be there, it would have been a bargain. The buzz about the event is making contacts. It went way beyond that. I am now honest to god friends with some of the top names in the business. Just one little tip I heard one of the speakers reveal will easily bring in another $5k a year for a good decade to come. Good ROI Shoe!

There is video coming, … but not of the secrets. When the real secrets started flowing, the camera was off and pointed at the roof!
