You make it sound like different people own the forums. Lee Dodd owns both of them – as you can see by going to http://www.escalatemedia.com he owns webmaster-talk, and everyone knows he owns Earners Forum.

that webmaster forum has a dash in the domain, that’s generally bad…they should buy the non-dashed counterpart.
ok so I get it. you know Lee Dodd from starting elite retreat together and at EL last week you discussed that you would promote him combining two of his websites into one…is that right?. the misleading part is the lack of disclosure and implying that they were owned by different people or companies. I need to start tracking the ratio of linkbait/spam posts to informative posts going forward
The problem with the contest is you have to be cranking it out 24/7 for any chance to win. Its pretty much just the top few point getters who’ll win. I’d prefer some sort of 1 point one ballet type of draw.

Mergers can sometimes be a good thing bringing the others readers to make the forum stronger.
I found both forums to be a bit mediocre, sitepoint is without a doubt the best IMO
But some people just don’t agree with the changes and rules, and they leave the forums. You might see this in webmaster talk’s general chat section.

Seems to be a pretty interesting concept since I have never seen such thing happening before for forums. Nice to see people thinking out of the box and not seeing everyone else as competitor.
Same here. Earners was good for a while then died off. I went back a few times but I wasn’t very impressed. I hope it gets better after the merger.

Am also a member of DP forums. They’ve been around the block and got a huge user base, so it will be interesting to see if this might topple them. Time will surely tell. The prizes that are up for grabs are attractive for sure. Enough of a reason to enter the contest!
