Ha.. I dont really get how so many people doubt your check.. (4 years ago or whatever it was) things were booming …especially adwords and all those contextual ads.. the terms and conditions for those companies were also a bit more lax as well (not saying you bent the rules a bit… but i did).
I remember during the yahoo publisher boom, I made $110,000 in one month just off a funny videos site. I did this by placing thumbs of hot girls next to each link in a medium rectangle ad. Nowadays, things like that can’t be done cause the rules are a bit more strict. But a few years ago, when the web was still young and undeveloped, making big spurts of money were more common.
I still think there are plenty of ways like that to make money on the net that are untapped… you just gotta be creative.

DOH! Well that really bites. This sometimes happens when you upload a video to youtube. Occasionally something goes wrong and it won’t show up. Unless there was something in the video that they didn’t want revealed just yet and decided to scrub it.

Glad I came back to check again, video is back up. Comments on Web going negative and how Google will respond to that is right on.

Yeah that’s interesting, the whole thing with negativity at the top of Google SERPs. I haven’t really seen much discussion about that. That does have to start making Google look bad at some point, so where do they draw the line? Ya gotta think that they are going to have to put in place some sort of “negative keyword density” into their algo.

Thats funny about the disclaimer - I never read it but you do have a point on it. Too many people take bloggers word for it.

I love the story about the guy that was worried about having to spend months figuring out what you are doing with your sites and you’ve spent years getting it right. What happened to hard work?

  18. FF0000
Flimjo said on March 11th, 2008 at 1:51 pm

The problem with hard work is that no one wants to do it. If you’re building a business, like a blog for example, it requires hard work no matter how you look at it. No one gets rich overnight. Any venture, no matter how potentially lucrative it is, requires hours and hours of dedication and effort.

I can’t really blame people to be honest. There is a ton of bullshit going around.

But do you think Google would have me speak on panels with them and giving me permission to disclose info without doing their due diligences ? ;)

Glad the video is back online. It was another great interview Jeremy. You should do more video posts as you seem to be a natural in front of the camera.

I guess you’re busy with the ShoeperStar stuff which is why you haven’t posted today. Or was that yesterday and you’re just on a travel day today and you haven’t made it back ?
