UFC 82 Anderson Silva VS Dan Henderson

by Jeremy Schoemaker on March 1, 2008 · 57 comments

I havent had much time to write about this event tonight for the UFC but here are my pics.

Henderson vs Silva

I like Dangerous Dan Henderson over the 3:1 favorite Anderson Silva. Yes I know Anderson is a badass and I agree however I think henderson’s power will surprise and overwhelm Anderson.

Otherwise I like the guys in bold to win

YUSHIN OKAMI VS. EVAN TANNER

CHRIS LEBEN VS. ALESSIO SAKARA

HEATH HERRING VS. CHECK KONGO

The only bet I am making is Sakara over Leben. He is a +140 dog. I bet 143 to win $220. I really like this bet.

I think you’re right. I like them both, but I think power has it over agility here. It’s also good to route for the underdog. If it was the same champ all the time, fighting wouldn’t be as exciting :-)

Wow, you got killed…1 for 4. I gotta say that I picked fitch, kongo, leben, and okami. But I really really wanted henderson to win. My heart said hendo..but my head said anderson. That guy is friggin unstoppable.

Is this some kind of Dog race lol. Never really watched such kind of a race apart from a MMORPG game, A3 India lol.
Seriously..is it interesting? I doubt if we have such things over here, in India…

Oh I remember, in villages, people have Cock fights( Hen’s male :D ) They put small knives at their legs and they fight.. Woah, what a fight they are.

If you are not a fan of the favorite in a fight, it’s always nice to see that the underdog is winning and to bet on him as well.

Ouch… Deep down i was hoping Henderson was going to win, but I still had to take Silva fro the money.

Poor Dan Henderson :( Oh well, I reckon if Shogun beats Chuck, he’ll drop down to middleweight just to beat Anderson Silva then head back up to Heavyweight to beat Rampage. :)

The whole thing should be illegal. What dumbasses they both are!……..

Note to self; never take UFC tips from Shoe…LOL j/k’ing

I don’t know why, I was surprised that Hendo got his self into a choke hold. I thought it would be a better match than what it was…it was good, just very short! LOL

Silva is a monster, I personally don’t see anyone currently who can beat him. I’m thinking he’s going to run out of guys to fight pretty soon.

I wonder when and if the numbering of events will change. Seems they are getting pretty high with 82. They seem to be having more fights each year and I don’t know of a better method, but it will be interesting to see what happens. I don’t think the numbering will last into the 200′s

Henderson seems like a good guy and he is a tough mofo, but Silva just has incredible agility and speed. Still, I admire Henderson for dropping all that weight just to fight Silva. That shows a real dedication to the sport. The UFC needs to find another Brazilian to fight him because these friggin gringos keep getting stomped.

I knew Silva would be able to handle Henderson. Henderson did control Silva when he got him to the ground in 1, but Silva survived that with no damge. In the second round the punches flew and Silva managed to get him in a choke.

You got Okami right and Kongo wrong.

Sorry about the Sakara loss. It’s not fun losing a bet, although risking $143 to win $200 isn’t really my kind of investment.

This was a great card i love henderson and silva so it was a toss up for me. If you haven’t seen the fight yet there is a link on my site for the video that will be taken down soon i’m sure so check it out great fight. Shoemoney your picks didn’t turn out to well again. But i love that your into it as much as i am. I lost money on kongo thought that he would win for sure. just shows there are no sure bets in the ufc anything can happen. I’ll be at the fights in may can’t wait!!

I think I would have an expert ghost this stuff for you. What happens when you predict wrong week after week and then launch an authority website? fortunately most of the readers of that site won’t read this one, but it might impact your industry launch buzz. Getting it right when others got it wrong a few times. Now that would be impressive and create some serious buzz for your launch.

Good fights — i was very disappointed with the Kongo decision.

I wanted to see Dan win, but knew going in it was a very tall order.

I don’t even think BJ could step in the rind with Anderson.

How can you be upset with the Kongo decision? There is no way in the world that even the one judge had it scored in the favor of Kongo? I was shocked as anyone about the fight but c’mon now…

I agree, it makes coming here more enjoyable. Even with what he has been through in the past he is open about and that makes it very personable. We can relate to him in different ways. Some visitors may not like the UFC, but it’s something Jeremy likes and bringing it into this blog is a nice change of pace.

Soon we’ll be seeing Fighters.com up and running. Should be something good!

I’ll be interested in seeing how fighters.com progresses. They certainly need some actual MMA writers with background in the sport….going back further than TUF and covering more than just the UFC. Hopefully they will pickup reporters kind of like MMAjunkie who can track stuff down. It’s a tall order to go against a site like sherdog.

Quite possibly the worst predictions in history. I missed this post prior to the fight, but I would have predicted both Leben and Silva to win their fights. I am a fan of Leben’s since he was on The Ultimate Fighter. He has passion and just simply had bad luck on the show by getting cut… twice.

I’ve been a huge fan of Silva since I saw him take someone out with a standing elbow. Never seen it before or since.

The way he pulverised Rich Franklin (twice) made me cringe.

Rough nite for me. I had Tanner, Hazelett, Bielkheden and Wilson….all huge underdogs with good odds. The upcoming PPV should be a lot better though…Bocek, Starnes and Maia are going to be getting some great odds!
