ShoeMoney 2008 Spring Conference Schedule

by Jeremy Schoemaker on February 7, 2008 · 32 comments

Been getting a lot of inquiries over what conferences I will be going to. Here is my outlook on spring 2008 as of right now.

SMX West – Feb 25-28th Santa Clara, CA – for some reason I have not made it to a SMX event yet. They started about the time my daughter was born and it just has no worked out. I am very happy to say I am going to my first SMX event this February. I will be on a panel at this event on a contextual panel with Jen Slegg

SXSW Interactive March 7-11 Austin, Texas. I have always wanted to goto SXSW but have never made it. Should be a good one! Also there is still time to enter the Shoeperstar Contest where you can win a all expense paid trip to the event! (details here)

SES NYC – Mon, March 17 – Thu, March 20 – I am still on the fence with this conference. I am probably not going to attend this one. We will see.

Elite Retreat – April 3rd, 4th San Francisco, CA I am really excited for this years Elite Retreat. Great lineup of speakers and attendees so far.

My life has changed so much from a few years ago when I used to go to as many conferences as I could. With a 20 month old toddler and another one on the way… Its really become challenging to find time for conferences. I have slowed down in speaking at events mainly because I just do not have time to do a presentation. Also we have a lot of projects and with fighters.com we will be traveling a lot for MMA events/interviews etc.. Should be a interesting spring/summer ;) .

That’s a good line up. I helped create a group recently called the Search Marketing Salon on linked in and we are looking to have our first event around the end of Feb, maybe you can swing by that one as well :)

Wow, busy schedule! Is the fam going to come with you on any of your travels? You know, kind of make it into a work / play type of a situation?

Congratulations on the second baby, do you know yet? Boy or Girl?

P.S. who takes all of these pictures of you? Do you set a timer or do you constantly have a helper take your picture?

My wife will be at the elite retreat. We are going to rent a car and drive up the coast line for the next week. We do not know yet on the second baby… Might go the whole way without knowing.

my wife has taken probably half of the pictures on the site… the others I just grab some random person. Some events I have hired photographers.

I’d love to go to SXSW sometime. I live about an hour north of Austin, just the cost is a little steep. My gf worked on a film last summer which will be showing there (if all the technical stuff gets finished in time).

You must be a pretty busy guy from the looks of the photo and with your kid, and with 4 scheduled conferences before the end of the first week in April.

I am in internet advertising for home builders. What conference would be good for me and my company. I looked at Cruchies but I am not sure how to go about it. Can you or anyone help me out.

Wow, how much do you get paid for delivering speeches to the conferences?

It would be great to have you at SES NY this March – we have put a fantastic line up together and are expecting a large crowd. It might very well be the largest SES to date which means lots of unique networking opportunities.

Speakers include:
Andrew Tomkins
John Battelle
Nick Carr
Gordon McLeod
Jason Calacanis
Kevin Ryan and many more…

dang.. i’m already having trouble finding time for internet marketing so I can’t imagine how you do it.

Interesting question – most conferences like Search Engine Strategies do not pay their their speakers… travel expenses are picked up from time to time but that is about it.

Speaker selection is done very carefully and, at SES anyway, Sales pitches are not allowed on stage.

Aww! I want to see a picture of the toddler, but I don’t know about putting kids’ pictures on the web before they can agree to it. Sigh!!
