Caroline Middlebrook has written a great little ebook about building niche wordpress blogs. I get probably 5-10 emails per day about how to get started making money online and for the most part I really do not know what to tell people who have never made a website or have any interest in creating a service oriented site. I never really considered myself a “learn how to make money” blog/blogger but I get thrown into that a lot… but I digress…
Caroline’s e-book is completely free and perfect for someone who is not only looking to learn how to make money with niche blogs but also just getting started with blogging in general. It has easy step by step word press walkthroughs and nice pictures. It covers everything from FTP to SEO.
I think the book in itself is a good lesson to people on how to earn money. Caroline has created a great resource/service and has monetized it with a few affiliate links.
Good job Caroline!

one thing I’ve learned about ebooks is that they do help get people to subscribe. If you can offer something of value then people will buy into it.

Making niche sites is one of the best ways to make money on the internet. Whether you are selling a product or building a niche site for adsense, it makes making money a lot easier.
It’s great that she is offering the ebook completely free and helping others. It’s always easier when someone shows you how to do something. As long as you follow their advice, you should be successful. Also, try to see what other successful sites are doing and try to get an idea from them.

This is a good eBook for people who are new to Wordpress. It tells you exactly how to set up Wordpress, which themes and plugins to use, etc. This is really useful because it is all consolidated into a single place. It should probably be called “How To Setup Wordpress For Dummies” though, because it doesn’t seem to have much about niche sites.

While it’s true this idea isn’t anything new ( and a lot of niches could be saturated), you’d be surprised how many niches are still untapped. I just started making a few hundred bucks a week extra from one blog that is pretty lame looking and I spent maybe a total of 15 minutes on. And of course that is only one blog- or probably about 0.08% of my online efforts..
I have many domains with no “age” at all that rank well in natural search. i have found ( at least for the very targeted niches I hit- I dominate very small niches rather than trying to rank for some huge industry) that it isnt a factor in what I do. I also have a blog ( that isnt about making money and doesnt make money, its just a few guys goofing around) where whenever I make a new post it is pretty much # 1 in google for whatever KWs are in the title. And that blog was started in Oct 07 with no domain, domain added in Nov.07..
There are a LOT of places out there to make money. It is not too late, and anyone who cant isnt looking hard enough or trying.

I’m not enamoured by that free ebook.
The very idea of people creating a whole slew of “zero maintenance” sites just to pull in a few bucks here and there smacks of spam to me.
I don’t admire people who just slap up a site to make money and it never gets updated. I consider that spam.
I read the ebook. Most of it is taken up by telling people the raw basics. It’s teaching total know nothings a step-by-step plan on how to set up something worthless.
Big thumbs down to this ebook.

haha ok. No harm done. Hard to read people online.
I didn’t ask Jack to comment or anything. I just responded to ya.
But I’ll play nice now if you do

Indeed, it’s great to see that people who are adding value to the Web through their free products receiving some well-deserved credit for their efforts.

I’m fairly new to wordpress.. so this looks like a promisng read for me. Thanks for the link!

Middlebrook produced an excellent book, accepted feedback, refined it and has published a free tool far more valuable than many ebooks which have a significant price.

I’m always interested in a free ebook that tells me how to make money. Thanks for the post.

I say welcome to 2005. If you haven’t jumped on the wordpress/niche/affiliate/blogging thing by now, I won’t say it’s too late but good luck with the competition and getting your domain aged enough for real traffic.

Thanks for the nice plug Shoe

sss dont worry you can prove yourself over time just stay at it and keep up the good work! I couldn’t help myself with the edit =(. I try not to take this blog that seriously. Besides you guys totally comment hijacked off topic!
January 22, 2008 at 1:49 am
Thanks for the edit if my comment. Whatever. I guess you too can assume things about me that are all incorrect.
January 21, 2008 at 11:34 pm
You are correct I am a total dipshit. You see all I can do is talk. I do not actually do anything. I am a typical SEO. I also assume all kinds of stuff about you that is very incorrect.

I have downloaded a copy of this ebook for my reference. I”m sure it will come in handy in the future both for me, and for some of my readers who ask questions I dont know the answers too. Thanks for the recommendation!

I, too, had noticed many blogs promoting this eBook so I had to check it out. Very well written in my opinion and I even learned something new (about Fantastico).

Respond to what? Some dumbass looking for 5 minutes of fame? People come out of the woodwork like this all the time. They have no clue what I do for a living. I am sure that blog is the highlight of his life. I have 5 companies to run and was in san francisco at the crunchies when all this crap was going on.

We need more books and sites that really go in-depth in terms of how to create a good niche site. I personally have Wordpress and am thrilled with it. I used to have a blogspot platform and I’m glad to have gotten rid of it.

“I never really considered myself a ‘learn how to make money’ blog/blogger but I get thrown into that a lot”
You? Thrown into that group! That’s crazy! Why would anyone get that idea? What kind of crazy drugs must people be on to think insane thoughts like that. You were attacked on this exact point at http://www.slightlyshadyseo.com/?p=170 but you refuse to respond. Why?
January 21, 2008 at 7:08 pm
great book at a great price
January 21, 2008 at 5:54 pm
I’ve downloaded and read this eBook and I can say that it is well worth a read. Although it is an awesome resource for someone just getting started out with blogging, even the seasoned veterans might get an idea or two that sparks something that they can then take off and start a new project with. Highly recommended!
January 21, 2008 at 5:49 pm
time to clear the schedule and try out some new niches
January 21, 2008 at 5:14 pm
She really has it broken down to the littlest detail for some trying to get into the niche sites or just starting a wordpress blog.
January 21, 2008 at 5:07 pm
The book is a great read and really helped me figure out which way to go with some of the ideas I have, I saw it on her website but didn’t click through to read it until I saw you link about it.
January 21, 2008 at 4:40 pm
This is just the thing I need to teach my brother how to make money with affiliate marketing. It’s just easier than teaching
I can send this to him and take it from there. Thanks for the resource!
January 21, 2008 at 4:40 pm
wow, she has really stirred up some buzz about this ebook lately. I have seen this popping up on numerous websites…
Good job Caroline!

Another great example of the business model, “make money by giving away free things”.
Just read the ebook. It is pretty good!
