Fire Away with Questions Round 4

72 responses..

Its been a while since i opened the place up for questions so fire away. You can ask anything you want and if I can (without breaching any NDA’s or Non-competes) I will try to answer it.

Please only put questions in the comments. If you have a comment on others questions save it for when I answer it makes it much easier on me then having to delete them ;)

I will close the comments on this post by noon CST tomorrow or by the time it reaches 100 comments whatever comes first.

Where is your favorite place to blog? And do you find it easier to blog around people (like at a coffee shop) or in the privacy of your own place?

Personally, I am getting into the habit of blogging at coffee shops on the weekends to get out.

SM how do you say you are not a SEO? You won several SEO contests and by looking at the structures on your other sites you obviously understand the ins and outs of SEO and you rank tops for some of the most competitive keywords. WTF is the deal?

i have noticed that you have no social profiles, or at least no active ones on sites such as stumbleupon, mybloglog, and sphinn. Does this mean that you do not think social media marketing is necessary to grow a blog? If so what other means of creating buzz about your blog would you advise. And you cant say search engine keyword optimization, because you made it clear a few posts ago that you are not SEO.

He actually does and he lists all of them in the “ShoeMoney Social” section which can be found by scrolling down a little.

When you have a limited or not particulary big amount of money. It can seem daunting putting almost everything you have into start-up for a new idea.

What are your views on small start-ups would you recommend a person put small amounts into something and slowly release something or just shove everything they have into something and push it as hard as they can. If they truly believe in it?

    2) How long was it before you started selling ads for the show, and how lucrative was the ad revenue?

    Thanks,

I won a prize here a couple of months ago - in the contest you ran as a part of your RSS war with John Chow. The prize was a copy of PPCRiches, worth $297.

I had a bad experience with this contest - in the sense that, despite repeated requests directly to you, the prize never actually turned up.

So, the two questions I have are:

    1) Can I have my prize please; and
    2) Given the difficulties, would you recommend to other bloggers considering running contests that they make sure they have all the prizes physically in their possession before they offer them in an actual contest.

I’m in the business of Scuba Diving so do you have different opinions if I use this way for promotion than say if it was a make money online blog?

It will be two weeks before the company is finished at which point I will email my 3000 email subscribers (subscribed to me directly in person) part of this email will ask any diving bloggers’ to link to me to win a diving prize so already I will create a small marketing buzz for the company in the area any other ideas?

I’ve got an idea for a new company that would likely give adsense a run for their money. It’s unique but I don’t have the time or resources to make it reality, you have the background and resources. Would you be interested in hearing this idea, and willing to pay me a nominal (aka very small) fee if you like the idea enough to give it a go?

What do you do when a campaign simply dies on you when promoting it via PPC? I find that on a few campaigns I run, they will go great for like 4-5 weeks, and then one day conversions stop. I’ll go back and revise the campaign but still continues to convert poorly. How do you keep a campaign from not dieing out when you know it has plenty of potential?
