Dan Perry Poker Champ, Google Fridge giver-a-wayer, and Just a Good Guy.

Dan Perry has done a very in-depth recap of winning the SEO poker tournament. Its a very interesting read. Especially for me (the guy he owned beat in heads up). He was a really really nice guy and super humble. I am happy he won. Check out the .

So here is something I really admire from Dan. When he collected his almost $5,000.00 in winnings I was right there collecting my $1,9xx for getting second place. Dan asked Dr David Klein ( the tournament host) about the woman who lost her husband in the California fires. He said please give her this and handed DK a stack of chips. I don’t want to disclose how much it was cause that isn’t really the point but it was a hefty amount. He is a good guy.

Dan is also giving away a Google fridge (ya those ones that sell for fortunes on eBay!). To enter all you have to do is write about what you would do with the fridge. Will be interesting to see what people come up with.

Yes, it is good to see that someone who has won so much money is thinking to other people. Nice, very nice.

  2. RacerX

Jeremy: Whenever I come to your site I find something educational or interesting to read about. Like this Google fridge contest for example. Since you have a young child like myself, I thought you’d enjoy seeing why “I” should win the fridge. Perfect for a 10 month old :)

That’s awesome that the other players chipped in a well. Sounds like a great event for a great cause.

Haha! Can I call you “The Fridge” from now on? Shoot think of the branding possibilities!

Anyway, congrats on the win and props for the donation. I wish more people in the world were that generous.

  8. Fiscal Musings

It’s good to see someone doing something nice for someone else. As for the fridge, it’s pretty awkward looking.

First Google are selling TV’s and now fridges. What next – are they planning to open electrical outlets?

The charity money has been going out this month, and should all be in the right hands by the end of this month. I am still waiting for the credit union to get back to me on exactly where to mail the money for the fund set up for the fire fighters wife. She will be getting the money from Dan and also $848.88 from all the other players combined, which ends up being $1,348.88.

My patient Shawn Erickson, who had this firefighter as his captain was absolutely overwhelmed when he heard about Dan’s extra contribution.

Dan really did handle the entire thing with so much humility it was unbelievable.

And while we are talking about good guys, when I recently asked someone about Jeremy and more about what he was like, I was told “He wouldn’t even talk badly about his enemies.”

Next year another charity poker tournament? You bet!

wow I wish I was there to see the look on her face when that happened. Of course money will never buy back what she lost :(

It sounds like everyone came away with something. I think most of us were so tired by that time of the week, I was more impressed you guys could concentrate for 5 hours. Congrats to Dan. I hope David does it again this year.

  23. Adam

Sounds like a class guy? And he can play poker ;) . What more could you want?

  24. Dan Perry

Thanks for the kind comments. Hope the Lasik has healed (I’m guessing it has).

Just wanted to fill in a few holes; I won $3,195 total, not quite $5k (although it felt like it). In the post you linked to on dk’s site, I spilled the beans on what I donated. It was for charity after all, right?

Finally, the best thing to come out of this giveaway? Someone “rebranded” me as:

    Refrigerator Perry

It was worth it just for that.

    Dan

  25. Erica

If he is god at poker and decent at SEO then we should talk :)
Nice hand strategy as well, he was a bit lucky but who isnt when it comes to winning a multi-table tournament? Maybe Shoe should challenge him next in the octagon.
Winner: Shoemoney by rear naked choke…3-1
