In the last year I have lost 2 cannon sd600 cameras and broken (thrown) another. I am really happy these cameras are so cheap on amazon (you can get them for 100-125 on special. I recently even got a sd1000 on amazon for 105!. I like it a lot.
I have also lost my cell phone…
And the biggest electronics loss was that I went through 2 laptops this year… 1 got pop spilled on it on a plane and the other the system board just fried. I love to use these small Sony Laptops when traveling.
So I think one of my 2008 resolutions is to be nicer to my electronics.
BTW I see over at Mr Chows blog he is going to give away a “Tuff” laptop if he wins this contest… so vote for him

Same to you. But it was 2009.I think one of my 2009 resolutions is to be nicer to my electronics.
Mini notebook is my dream to make me mobile with small bag.
January 20, 2008 at 4:55 pm
Ive dropped my Canon Rebel Xti so many times and broke so many lens its ridiculous. Thank God for equipment insurance or Id be out couple grand.
January 15, 2008 at 4:52 pm
2 years ago I traveled nearly 200K miles on United for work. I went through 4 laptops, 6 briefcases and countless rollers. Last break they bought me a Tough book and though slower, at least I didn’t have to call from China with a broken laptop again!
January 4, 2008 at 6:45 pm
Yea, it seems camera’s are getting cheaper and cheaper,
thats not a bad deal either
January 4, 2008 at 2:37 pm
Damn, how can you be so rough with your electronics.
I must be a sissy. I still have my 1.2 megapixel Canon PowerShot A100 that came out like 6 or 7 years ago. Maybe I should be rough on my stuff so that I can keep up to date!
January 3, 2008 at 7:02 pm
I would also like to know where you got a camera for that cheap…
But I hope I never break my current laptop, it’s a shiny new macbook pro.
January 2, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Im horrible on cell phones – Ive had 3 different blackberries in the last year
January 2, 2008 at 3:32 pm
I lose so many cameras that I decided to become an affiliate for some Sony products!
January 2, 2008 at 12:30 am
throw the old stuff, buy a new one
January 1, 2008 at 7:44 pm
yea screwing up or losing your electronics sucks. funny how you don’t seem too upset about it though lol.
January 1, 2008 at 7:44 pm
Dude, how’d you get an SD1000 for $105? That’s pretty damn good.
January 1, 2008 at 7:43 pm
I feel your pain. I exposed the lens of my camera and destroyed my computer with a spilled drink. That’s a good resolution for next year.
January 1, 2008 at 7:43 pm
I knocked my wife’s laptop off a chair and there is a big black spot in the corner of the screen where you close applications. I promised to buy her a new laptop.
January 1, 2008 at 7:39 pm
I had the same question. Did you no follow those stickers?
January 1, 2008 at 1:59 pm
I voted for the old Chow over on his blog, but voting for him again won’t really hurt.
Shame about your laptop getting pop all over it though, thats what I hate about them! Everything spills on them easily.
January 1, 2008 at 1:31 pm
While TechTreak did have an advantage of a few hundred votes at the certain point, John is about 2k votes ahead at the moment of writing so that the chances of him losing his lead are currently slim to none.
January 1, 2008 at 11:05 am
Hi – I’m glad it’s not just me. I lose mobile phones all the time and I’ve gone through three laptops in one year!
January 1, 2008 at 9:14 am
I need a new camera… Mine has begun to take its time when taking photos. I still enjoy it though, but will have to invest in a new one this year…
January 1, 2008 at 8:31 am
wow, i didn’t know this. does it work with sales also?
January 1, 2008 at 8:18 am
You know what,I got a same DC last week
January 1, 2008 at 7:51 am
Recently, I spilled coffee frying my keyboard…fortunately it was a desktop, so I only needed a new keyboard:.)
January 1, 2008 at 7:21 am
Wow, you sure go through a lot of hardware
Just thought I’d mention, I decided to subscribe to your feed, and THANKS for the nice big shiny subscribe button! I often have to take a while to find that on other sites. Nice one.
Happy New Year!
January 1, 2008 at 6:46 am
Whew!!! pretty hard on gadgets huh??? Well my new years resoltuion was a bit unorthodox… I am clicking my own adsense in frustration because it only yields trinket amount… And google nearlyterminated me for that… So BE MORE PATIENT!!! THats my take… =)
January 1, 2008 at 6:06 am
John is gonna win this out and out.
Woo hoo!
January 1, 2008 at 4:04 am
Well Happy New Years man! And stop breaking all those electronics. I’m jealous now.
January 1, 2008 at 3:34 am
well i got to take good care of my lap top and stuff. don’t have much money to play around. my first next buy for electronic have to be hand phone if it in the same category. and then digital camera. hopefully can buy of both them by end of this year.
January 1, 2008 at 2:41 am
That is really amazing with the numbers of laptops u have broken and lost, I will soon get my laptop next month.
January 1, 2008 at 1:38 am
I think TechTreak is attracting all the John Chow haters to help them out. But it’s interesting to see how much their numbers are jumping again… it wouldn’t surprise me if they win it by using some artificial method to inflate their votes.
January 1, 2008 at 1:16 am
I think you and me are the same I have big problems with keeping out with my gadgets so I guess i would probably be where you are now see you at the end of year where me and you might be close buddies
December 31, 2007 at 11:53 pm
Two laptops a year – nice work!
December 31, 2007 at 10:47 pm
I go threw 2 cell phones a year becuase I won’t put a leather case on them because I think it makes the phone look cheezy.
So the phone gets scratched up after awhile. like if I got keys in my pocked and scratches it.
December 31, 2007 at 10:41 pm
It was nice of you to help John out with winning the competition. It was definitely time for some heavy artillery since there is definitely something fishy about the main competitor having far too many votes compared to the traffic he is receiving.
December 31, 2007 at 10:35 pm
Good to see you supporting John.. Jeremy
December 31, 2007 at 9:55 pm
I knew John would have a surprise up his sleeve in order to win the contest for the laptop. It looks like Shoe could actually use a Ruff Laptop for himself.
December 31, 2007 at 9:54 pm
The world is in need of a company that specializes in making indestructible electronics products ranging from phones to laptops all under one roof. I think there are plenty of people who are sick of cheap plastic parts and would go for a rugged well made product.
December 31, 2007 at 9:20 pm
I dumped a whole mug of coffee on one of my laptops once and the damn thing survived. I dunno how. I took it apart, cleaned it and let it dry for like 3 days and it worked, except for the keys were a little sticky.
I also nearly lost a tv and a Wii remote to my 4 yr old son and Wii bowling! LOL
December 31, 2007 at 9:12 pm
I have to ask. Are you paid to put those stickers on your lappie?
December 31, 2007 at 9:10 pm
i have seen this a few times… but its been automatic. is there a link you submit to?
December 31, 2007 at 8:50 pm
I’m pretty sure that a big spender like you don’t know Amazon’s price drop policy
If the item you purchase on Amazon drops in price within 30 days, Amazon will return the difference to whatever method you paid with
There are some people that go as far as a year and STILL receive the difference of over hundreds for electronics
There is no limit either.

December 31, 2007 at 8:01 pm
i hate stickers on laptops… maybe cause i had a powerbook first and then a mac book pro…
December 31, 2007 at 6:51 pm
You think that was an accident? He probably wanted to rank for that term to redirect the traffic to an AFF offer.
December 31, 2007 at 6:34 pm
Wow… ok, well I stand corrected then
See, I’m always buyin crap like that and I live a pretty pedestrian life. But if I should ever NEED to take my watch to 30 leagues under the sea, I know it will still give me the right time.
December 31, 2007 at 6:13 pm
You said “hard on”. Heh heh heh…
December 31, 2007 at 5:58 pm
I also seem to break any electronics I buy. Too bad most of the ones that do break are the expensive ones and the cheap ones I can’t seem to break them if I wanted to
December 31, 2007 at 5:44 pm
i take the drives out and copy the info
December 31, 2007 at 5:23 pm
It looks like John Chow is rockin on the votes for the Ruff Laptop. He’s pulled into the lead by 1,000 votes.
December 31, 2007 at 4:53 pm
Where I am right now it’s -16F (-27C) and I was out taking pics today while snowboarding. It came in handy.
December 31, 2007 at 4:46 pm
Honestly, do you need the freeze proof? I mean sure it’s cool to say but…
December 31, 2007 at 4:44 pm
I once sent my phone through the washing machine. It never was quite the same after that. I could make outgoing calls but the screen was broken and it didn’t ring for incoming calls, just voicemail alerts lol.
December 31, 2007 at 4:37 pm
I use gmail to back up important emails.
December 31, 2007 at 4:29 pm
I’m not too bad to my electronics but I did go through 1 cell phone this year.
December 31, 2007 at 4:09 pm
I picked up one of these bad boys on the weekend… water proof, shock proof, freeze proof.

December 31, 2007 at 4:07 pm
It looks like you doubled John’s votes for him in about an hour by adding that widget, very nice Jeremy.
December 31, 2007 at 3:29 pm
so if you ‘lost’ two laptops this year, how do you keep your data backed up? or did you just lose it all too?
December 31, 2007 at 3:21 pm
I try to keep my electronics clean, hell I still have a Sony Cyber-shot 2.0 megapixels that works great, over 5 years old!
