If your celebrating christmas… or not, have a good one! Just be safe
. I will be traveling quit a bit until the 28th but I should be able to get in my reflection on 2007 and newyears resolution posts.
OOOO also check out my friend alek’s christmas lights page. Its pretty sick what he is doing. He also raises a shitton of money for great causes.
Hi I am Jeremy Schoemaker and ShoeMoney.com is my blog. 99% of the post here are done by me but you will see others occasionally make guest posts. This blog is fun to write but for my day job I run several online companies.

As noted on the page, the 17,000 lights draw 65 Amps , which is ~7,500 Watts (equivalent to 5 hair dryers) and power in Colorado is about 10 cents/KiloWatt-Hour. They are on for 5 hours/day … but remember that web surfers can turn ‘em off. So the math is pretty straightforward – works out to about an additional three bucks/day. Not bad for a ton of fun!

Those lights are amazing. His electricity bill must be huge though. Have a great Christmas Shoe.
December 23, 2007 at 2:06 am

December 22, 2007 at 10:09 am

Very cool.

Kool Lights!!!!
December 22, 2007 at 12:33 am
You’re usually spot on – looking forward to those posts!
December 21, 2007 at 11:35 pm
Yea, the concept is a bit over-the-top (viewing and controlling someone else’s Christmas Display) … so the website layout is also just a wheeee bit over-the-top too!
And believe it or not, the HTML and CSS does W3C validate …
Thanks for the “cool” comment and Merry Christmas,
alek (aka Clark Griswold wanna-be)

I think a page like that can afford to be ugly… I am amazed. That is pretty cool in my book! Nice work.
December 21, 2007 at 10:33 pm
On a lighter note. The agency RTCRM’s holiday card is very very subversive. If you didnt know it was a holiday card, you would have no idea what’s going on. And here’s a new word for you…Holidology.

check out the website, call the 800#.

Wow! Those Christmas lights are insane… the page is uglier than sin, but the lights are impressive.
December 21, 2007 at 9:19 pm
Thanks for the shoutout Jeremy – I wrote a longer response/thank-you, but either got lost or stuck in your approval queue (?)
Best Wishes and Merry Christmas to you and your family, plus the Shoemoney Universe,
alek (aka Clark Griswold wanna-be)

A Merry Christmas to everyone, and a happy new year.
Those Christmas lights are awesome. We recently put a few hundred dollars worth of lights up, and they look pretty cool too.
December 21, 2007 at 8:33 pm
Thanks for the shout-out Jeremy and here’s a few more details for Shoe-Fans.
The Controllable Christmas Lights for Celiac Disease have three live webcams that allow you not only view 17,000 lights (and one dorky looking dude in Santa’s Workshop), but also control those plus the giant inflatable Elmo, Frosty, Santa, SpongeBob, and Homer Simpson – D’OH!
Webite is totally free (and totally fun, especially for kids) and via optional donations directly to the University of Maryland, over $20,000 has been raised for Celiac Disease Research – my kids have this, so it’s personal for me.
Best Wishes and Merry Christmas to Jeremy and his family (have met his wife – quite charming), and everyone else in the Shoemoney World,
alek
