The Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale - Betting Danzig Big

52 people have said their piece on this post. What say you?

After a impressive start this year I went 0-3 on UFC 77 costing me about $300. I plan to make up for that big tonight.

click for full image:

So basically risking US$ 745.00 to win US$ 452.58 (keep in mind you can only bet max 1,000) on bodog sports betting.

Most of the money on Mac Danzig. I have heard some info on both camps… and Danzig has added several new weapons to his already impressive arsenal. People in Tommy’s camp are saying he has mostly been working his wrestling and training mostly submission defense. Danzig is a -170 favorite or basically 1.7:1 odds.

I feel that Mac would beat tommy 8/10 times which is much better then 1.7 to 1. So in addition to just liking him to win this is very much a pot odds bet also.

I feel very strongly that Mac will win (obviously). Its to bad I wont be able to watch this live although dillsmack will be there. I am back home have to goto my wives Christmas party tonight.

Also this made me feel really good to see this on mmajunkie.com

Mac Danzig said he’s been training at Randy Couture’s training center in Las Vegas and said he’s never trained harder for a fight than he has for this one. He said his training partners have included Gray Maynard, John Alessio, Frank Trigg, Mark Hominick, Kendall Grove, Chris Horodecki and other top fighters at Xtreme Couture.

I was told that Randy REALLY likes Mac a lot and brought him into the Couture camp very quick after learning he was in the finals (Randy’s camp is in vegas where the ufc and the TUF is filmed).

Tommy Spears is being trained by shoemoney.com sponsored fighter Matt Hughes. I have known a lot of people in the Hughes camp for a long time and some are not so confident Tommy will win tonight. Makes me feel more secure about my bet.

Should be a great night for fights!

Very excited for this event as well… A lot of interesting matchups on the card. I think there’s some good welterweight talent and in Danzig’s case lightweight on the card plus the main event is two solid lightweights.

It should give us an idea who’s legit and who isn’t at least for some of the guys like Arroyo who never even lost on the show and has only fought a few times before and Roman who never got to compete but showed his heart for the sport.

Thanks for the reminder Shoe;-) I’m pulling for Tommy. He lives 15 miles from me. Even if he didn’t, I enjoy watching raw power & heart beat technique - especially when the power fighter is an under-dog (i.e., Tommy vs. George). Nonetheless, tonight’s fight should be a good one…unless of course Mac gets his back…arm…ankle…etc.;-) Or maybe George will upset with a surprise KO like the Riggs/Diego fight?!?

  7. scott neumyer said on December 8th, 2007 at 3:58 pm

Good luck, Shoe. The only worry I have about putting money down on Danzig is that he’s already stated that he’s going to drop down to 155 after this fight (win or lose). He’s a small 170 (he weighed in at 168.5), and I think Tommy will be able to muscle him around a bit.

That being said, Danzig’s technique is leaps and bounds above Tommy’s. All in all, it should be a good fight, but I think you’re right. In the end, Danzig wins.

Fight of the night, though…Huerta v. Guida… That thing is gonna be SICK!

Your posts almost make me want to bet some cash. I dont know though… perhaps I’ll try it.

  9. Tim said on December 8th, 2007 at 4:43 pm

Is Danzig related to Glenn Danzig of Misfits and “Mother” fame? If so, that dude’s got some evil floatin’ around in his genetic lineage. I’d put my wager there.

  10. Dave said on December 8th, 2007 at 5:06 pm

I am 50/50 on this one. One of the things that will be tough for mac to handle is the 20 pounds extra that tommy will have on him by fight time and the strength of tommy. Mac’s only hope is a submission and that might be tough considering tommy doesn’t seem to quick to tap and seems able to get himself out of tough situations.

I’m going tommy speers by decision.

  11. Nashville said on December 8th, 2007 at 5:31 pm

I put my bet down on Speers because I feel like his raw power will be too much for danzig to get him into an armbar or kimura. Should be a great match, I think match of the night will have to be huerta and guida as clay always puts on a great show

I dont bet on these fights, but I do enjoy watching them. Heres to a good match!

I’m not huge on betting money as I usually lose when I gamble, but good luck to you.

  14. Hustle Strategy said on December 8th, 2007 at 8:29 pm

Where is the Mayweather action? I assume UFC action is like horse racing with you trying to get inside info for your < 1 g bets… haha, good stuff.

Com’on Shoe! Stop taunting us with the money! We all know you’re basically rich :)

Promoting gambling and violence shouldn’t go hand in hand with “teaching” anyone anything, especially how to make money online.

  17. smoley said on December 8th, 2007 at 10:08 pm

Wow! Mac made it look as easy as Tommy made it look when he fought George. Props to Mac for a great display! And props to Tommy for making it to the championship!

  18. Nocturnal said on December 8th, 2007 at 11:33 pm

Violence? It’s a freaking sport. I’m guessing you don’t watch the NFL where a player recently broke his neck or hockey where there is always fights at least once a game.

That’s ridiculous! MMA is a freaking sport.

  19. GemViper said on December 9th, 2007 at 12:08 am

I’ve played NFL ball nocturnal, never was it a goal to break someone nor were we allowed to bet. MMA isn’t a sport and you can bet that when the next fighter dies, it will hit the shitter like Michael Vick.

When the goal is to destroy another human, it’s gone too far. Even boxers have more class.

  20. GemViper said on December 9th, 2007 at 12:13 am

By the way nocturnal, I was on your blog reading about your buying light bulbs *yawn* and just wanted to let you know… your comment system is 404.

The brutality of it is what some people dislike

  22. Blog Contests said on December 9th, 2007 at 12:31 am

Surely you can find a away around the $1K betting limit SM

  23. QuarterWiki said on December 9th, 2007 at 1:50 am

Hmmm… the odds seem very disadvantageous for players. I rather go play BlackJack in Vegas.

  24. Hustle Strategy said on December 9th, 2007 at 5:00 am

Congrats on the win. Seems Danzig pulled through for you.

  25. sexyMG said on December 9th, 2007 at 6:06 am

This are some nice betting Shoe. Good luck to you, i usualy don’t have much luck at gambling..

  26. Dave said on December 9th, 2007 at 8:35 am

Gemviper, a fighter did just die and there was no firestorm. The outcry was in the late 90’s, now it’s sanctioned by most of the athletic commissions.

What most people realize it looks brutal because of the blood, but these injuries don’t have lasting effects on people. A broken nose isn’t going to slow you down when you’re 50. A football player has to deal with the long term effects of being 400 pounds, getting tackled, etc. That’s why most of them can’t walk because their knees are shot or their hips are done.

MMA is just the peak of martial arts. It’s where an olympic freestyle wrestler goes to compete.

  27. GemViper said on December 9th, 2007 at 8:59 am

MMA has changed since I first watched it years ago apparently, for starters theres a ref in the ring now. Perhaps it has turned into a sport after all. I appologize. I still don’t approve but thats personal opinion, the guys who go in and get busted up aren’t the ones I’m worried about.

Its the dads betting the rent money and kids testing moves on playgrounds that bothers me. When I retired I did so in good health, to stay in good health, but you’re right about football injuries lasting forever. I played left guard and saw line mates and defensive tackles getting their legs rolled up on almost every game. The pain cost a good friend of mine his marriage, forced retirement, pain pills and a broken body play with your personality at times.

Do you have gambling problems??? or do you do it because you have nothing better to use the money you earned on this blog???

LOL Good Luck (but those questions are serious)

I love to bet money and do all the time… whether its in the stock market… pay per click… my time… I do those every day.

The poker tournament I got 2nd in was the 2nd time ive played poker in a year. I do bet on UFC events usually every time. I am 33 years old and have always loved to gamble

  33. jim said on December 9th, 2007 at 9:16 pm

Gambling really does heighten one’s enjoyment of sporting events… it’s one thing to cheer a fighter/player/team, it’s another to have some cold hard cash riding on it.

  34. Affiliate Unleashed said on December 9th, 2007 at 11:46 pm

Betting more than 1k on 1 game cannot be healthy though. Lol.

Good luck Shoe. You should be betting more than that.

I notice that your quite the gambling type.. best of luck with that ShoeMoney!

There is another way to making money through Sports betting however… and it’s much more low risk than gambling. The theory is called Matched Betting and is a proven technique to earning free cash.

Where gambling covers one or two possible outcomes in a sporting event - Matched Betting covers them all. The net result for the Matched Better is to always win when Matched Betting. Compare this to a gambler who will win occasionally and then, more often than not, end up losing. Which would you rather be?

If you (or anyone else of course!) is interested in earning free cash from sports events then you must visit the step by step guide to Matched Betting on our website.

Great site, keep up the good work.

Congrats on your betting win this time :) Danzig defeated Tommy Spear in what looked to be one of the easiest fights shown on tv that night.

Warmachine and J-Rock’s fight was killer though. I know everyone had to love that fight. It reminded me of the first Forrest vs Bonnar fight. Real bloody war.

    Correction for Shoemoney:

    Britney == Spears
    Tommy == Speers

As you probably already know now, Danzig won rather easily with a rear choke.

@MikeSmith: That was a brutal fight wasn’t it?? One of the best of the year in my book. Clay and Roger put on a good show too. That one could have gone either way pretty easily.

  49. Common Sense said on December 10th, 2007 at 7:03 pm

I stick with the stock market. My latest “bets” have been in the financial sector, primarily those providing home loans. Have they reached the bottom of all this subprime issues? Probably not, but they aren’t going bankrupt, so the long-term risk isn’t that great.

  50. Rae said on December 13th, 2007 at 4:10 am

So, I was watching the fights (come on, you knew Danzig had it the second Tommy walked into the arena… he looked shaken by all the people)… and after his win, Huerta mentioned having a website and the url had the number 4 in it instead of a “for”… grabbed my BB and checked the “for” version, domain was open. Went upstairs to grab a drink and register it and someone beat me to it in the 15 minutes it took me to do all this. I thought of you :)
