I ended up taking 2nd place (almost 2k prize) in the SEO Poker tournament. It was a LOT of fun and I should have won.. I had the chips… but I just got owned by a much better heads up player.
You can see all the pictures and payouts here on purposeinc’s website
Here is a picture of us holding our deck of Chipolte cards (each one is worth a free 8$ burrito!)

Congratulations Dan Perry who took home first prize.
(more in this post soon right now I need to catchup with my family ;))(just got home)

Congrats on the poker. How many free burritto cards do you have???

Thanks for the kudos Jeremy. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to go heads-up with. To the commenter; I think we split a full deck of Chipotle cards; I got about 25.

dominating the poker world too I see. How long did the poker tourny last?
[Reply]
How about a contest to win all your burrito cards?
[Reply]
The contest lasted about 5 1/2 hours with I believe two short 10 minute breaks. This was starting at 9:00 after most of the people had not slept much all week. I was getting exhausted just watching.
By the last tables the guys looked like real hardened champs.

hah good idea… however my wife i think has already confiscated them
[Reply]
Glad to hear that you had a good time and made it home safely.

Coming second…still not bad after you did make 2k in prize :). Although at the end of the day poker is a game of bluffing and luck…if you ride you luck and throw in a few bluffs at the right time, in the right place you’ve got a good chance of winning
[Reply]
bluffing is making your own luck…. or atleast giving the perception your luck has come in…
TBH I had a lot of really good cards. I think I only made 2 big bluffs all night.
A major turning point in the night for me was when I had a-j suited went all in.. dude I went all in with had a-q unsuited so I was in bad shape. caught a j on the river. he had me covered in chips plus a little.

Congrats Dan! Hey shoe - coming in 2nd is nothing so sneeze at! Remember, the cards fall funny sometimes.
[Reply]
Thats a lot of burritos!
[Reply]
Dang, you make money at everything now Shoe.
[Reply]
Chipolte? never heard of them. Must be a midwest thing.
[Reply]
Each deck is worth a burrito or each card?
If so, I’ll buy the deck from you for $60 bucks
I love those burritos. I had one yesterday in fact.
Anywho, congrats on winning!
[Reply]
Sorry to hear you came 2nd Jeremy - but well done Dan. You were both pros - I’m going to need to put in some serious practice for 2008
[Reply]
o lets not get silly now =P In about 200 tournaments I have played in this is the first I have ever placed in the money in my life.
[Reply]
already used 3 so far today
each card is for a 8$ burrito so 26×8$ value.
[Reply]
26 cards. half the deck
[Reply]
Congrats! Poker is a great game. Such a challenge. I bet I can take on Shoemoney! Not to sound bull headed or anything
[Reply]
Chipotle is God’s gift to the world.
[Reply]
Congrats to the winner.
Will be waiting for shoe’s followup.
[Reply]
and this was heads up not a full table, a little different strategy…
[Reply]
Seems like you had your glasses down and you were showing your poker face. No wonder you ranked so high

That was definitely the turning point for you and a very fun hand to play. I had a blast playing and congrats on winning that hand and most of my chips. Not long before that I think I took quite a few chips from Dan, which ended up going to you and then back to Dan at the end. Funny cycle, huh? Big time congrats to you on taking 2nd.
[Reply]
$2k isn’t bad at all. What’s that, like a hour’s earning for you Shoe? lol
[Reply]
Congrats, happy you! 2k$ is a lot of money for poker, i hope i will get that sum..
[Reply]
thanks man
[Reply]
$2K is pretty decent for a first time take.
[Reply]
I imagined that was a lot of fun. How much was the buy-in? I’ve been know to run the tables, but I’m strictly a 21 man myself. Although I am lucky that I live in the Bay Area and now Vegas, cause I have been known to have a bad streak as well. Mabye next year I can get in on the action. Up the ante maybe by having all the competitors link to the winners site, front page anchor text of their choosing. Maybe until the next year event??
Then we can see who puts their money where their cards are….
[Reply]
Chipotle cards?
[Reply]
i’m not a gambler - once I loose like $10 i’m out
[Reply]
I’m not sure, but I think the Shoe is holding more than 5 cards
[Reply]
my boss says you bluffed him out of a big pot. he’s a good player too. congrats on coming in 2nd
[Reply]
thats some money to start!! keep playing and winning.
[Reply]
I’m usually out at 10 cents
[Reply]
What the heck is in an $8 burrito???
[Reply]
The buy-in was about $200; $150 for the tourney, and $50 for the set-up, which I think went to the casino. Most of the money went to charity, although Shoe and I made out pretty well.
[Reply]
Good play shoe.
Hey why don’t you organize an online poker tournament yourself?
Would like to see who’s the best player of all your readers.
Maybe it can grow out to the biggest online Poker tournament ever
[Reply]
I wanted to go to the tournament but by that part of the week I was lucky I could still stand. I was going to try the kids table David was going to set up. Thanks David for setting up the tournament and for your comments on the local search panel.
