UFC 78 Validation

UFC 78

I have been a bit frustrated this week as bodog has not been putting up the betting lines for UFC78 until just the day before the fight. At first I thought they might have been blocking me because of my stellar 9-1-1 record. ;) When I started betting on UFC events I deposited 300 and have since turned that into almost 1300. I do not bet on it really for the sake of gambling just that it makes the fights that much more entertaining.

I just placed my bets on bodog.com for ufc78. While there is no title fights going on in tonights event there are a lot of interesting matchups.

As much as I wanted to lay the wood on the Bisping/Evans title fight I am staying away. The line is just a bit to wild for me. I think Evans should win this fight super easy… like probably 8/10 times however in MMA when you have a good striker like Bisping he is just one leg kick from knocking Rashad TFO Here is what I did bet on:

I bet on Chris Lytle +155 I bet 50$ which means if I win I will win 77.50. Even though Lytle is the underdog I think he will pull off the win.

My big pick of the night is Spencer “The King” fisher to win. Spencer is from my home town and trains some of my friends back in Bettendorf Iowa. His opponent Frankie Edgar, is currently undefeated with a impressive 7-0 MMA record (2-0 UFC) but I feel spence has too many weapons and will come out on top.

The 3rd fight I bet on is Omaha, Nebraskas own Houston Alexander VS

I bet $50 on Houston. I like him I just think this will be a much tougher fight for him then he has had in the past. Houston Alexander is almost a 2:1 favorite for this fight and I think that is pretty steep. If I was betting strictly pot odds I would bet against him but since he is a local guy I don’t feel thats a good move ;) .

Its not that I dont think Houston is good… He is for sure good. Here is the thing with Houston. He is very very very nice guy and when we have met him locally he has been nothing but super nice. Last month in las vegas though at UFC77 he was more concerned with getting his pictures taken with Dana White (he had me take this photo for him) and the rest of the fighters then he was with his fans. Anyway he seemed way more like a fanboi of the rest of the fighters then a real fighter himself. We are aways looking for fighters to work with and he wanted us to do some stuff with him but after that I kind of thought he might be a flash in the pan. We like to invest in fighters that are going to be around for a while (fedor, matt hughes). Course its possible all of this stuff with Houston is just because he is so new… we might be able to do something yet… Anyway.

Not the best ufc, think bisping & evans was a draw. Evans was fighting for the decision. You could hear is cornerman say after the first round. Give me 10 more minutes. Bisping should drop to 185lbs now and forget about a rematch with hamill.

Nobody bets for the sake of gambling, it’s always to make it more exciting. Who wants to watch a horse race without something riding on it? Unless it’s your team you have nothing at stake so watching can at times grow tiring, but when you are winning and losing with the guys out there then it becomes more than a game. Ask any degenerate gambler about why they bet and they will tell you the same thing.

    Fishcer’s performance was very poor!
I haven’t seen a mount like Houston’s since the last Jenna Jamison flick I saw!!
Rashad v. Bisping could have been a drawl. Especially the way his last decision went. It seemed UFC would have loved to keep both fighters ‘undefeated’!!

Overall the fights were somewhat uneventful and the Prudential center will probably not be seeing the UFC return any time soon.

Anyone know why Atlantic City didn’t get these fights?

Good point. Glad to see you still have your head on straight. Seems to be people that hustle and earn their money are the ones that care about it the most.

it will be really short because the lightest UFC division is 155 pounds and his natural weight is like 140. So he’d be fighting against guys that are 170 pounds by fight time and, very quickly, get his ass handed to him.

Seems like these UFC fights are the new “wrestling” events. I haven’t really gotten a chance to sit down to watch one of these events, but I remember being entertained by wrestling in the past :)

that was my point… its not loose change. People that waste money just because they have it are the ones who never will have it very long

I agree with those pics. Spencer fisher is an animal. Bisbing seems to get manhandled in the octagon a lot before pulling out the victory. That hamil victory was super suspect. I’m pulling for houston, but the only thing that worries me is his stamina….he seems AWFULLY out of breath in those fights and we haven’t seen more than a few minutes of him in action. But, the guy hits like a ton of bricks and seems to completely overwhelm people.

And i don’t see karo losing either…that guy is a nut job.
