A Big Set Of Tits - Perry Marshall Guerilla Marketing

By Jeremy Schoemaker 46 comments

I was getting caught up with Joel Comm’s Next Internet Millionaire. The guest guru today was Perry Marshall. Perry was talking about guerilla marketing and broke down the various techniques companies use.

One of his examples was Cosmo magazine and how they put more time and thought into the cover of their magazine then any other part. He showed the final 3 people and asked them what they thought:

Big Set Of Tits

He told the users not to mince words but to say what stood out. Contestant Jaime Luchuck started to blurt out her boobs and Perry jumped in and said “A BIG SET OF TITS”. He then went on to explain how they do this because you cant possibly pass by this magazine without stopping and looking at those boobs.

I don’t really know Perry Marshall very well but I thought this was one of the most interesting gurus so far on the show. I really like when people break down marketing and keep it real.

The task in this episode was to give away movie tickets to a free showing of “Over The Hedge” which was showing at the county fair. I think this was a great episode and the contestants came up with some great ideas.

In the end someone is eliminated and its down to the final 2 people. I dont want to spoil it for you go watch it now ;)

I liked this episode too, but I felt they cut the class part short. I would have liked to hear more of what he said about marketing. And no, I don’t mean that I would have liked to see more of that cover, as attractive as that woman is. :p

The challenge was entertaining and showed the different approaches of the contestants again. I wasn’t quite sure how it tied into the class they had, though; especially with the way **** won. (Name **** so as to not spoil things.) I did agree with Joel’s decision in the judgment room this time.

This could be considered a minor spoiler, but it looks like your prediction of who the winner will be very well may be right.

First I thought it was hosted by Matt Cutts!

I read Marshall Perry’s Adwords book. It was not bad.

It’s annoying to me when I click on the photo of a nice girl in my mybloglog photos on the right side of my blog - only to find out that it’s a guy masquerading as a girl because he knows his marketing and knows that guys (and girls both) will click the sexy girls photo to find out about her! Maybe I need to exchange my bald head avatar for a set of something uh, else?

Eva is so overrated. It must have taken a whole roll of duct tape to make them look that big.

I love this principle, I think its why my site does so well. Hmm… well is a very relative term when talking on ShoeMoney. It does well for what it is…

Sex Sells! It really does. When I put sexy girls on some of my pages my conversions went up. It’s sad but its true.

Perry is great - keeping it “real” with clients can be a huge challenge, but imperative. Wish all my past clients allowed me to tell them the truth rather than dumping a quart of sugar on it and dumbing it down with “corporate gibberish”

I bought Perry Marshall’s ebook on Google Adsense for $40-50 about 4 years ago. It was very insightful and helped me understand the world of internet marketing a lot better. It’s probably a bit out of date now, but it was a good start. He kind of introduced me to the game I guess.

I have always thought that magazines do a better job with their cover than do most websites. You got just a few seconds when someone clicks your website to keep them there… Don’t blow it with bad design and content, but keep it simple. (my website is not a good example)

I’ve used this strategy before for my 2 blogs. I included a very pretty woman’s photo on my banner and I’d have to say it was kinda effective. I removed that photo a week ago to see if there would be any difference. A big set of boobs proves an old “cliche” that “sex sells”! That’s just the way it is in this world.

Definently good layout design, my eyes go from the boobs to sex to blow. They are definently taking advantage of the sex sells premise to sell copies.
