Free Shirt Friday Phenomenom

by Jeremy Schoemaker on October 10, 2007 · 96 comments

Not to long again I started this thing called Free Shirt Friday. Maybe you have heard of it. Basically sites and companies send me shirts… I write about them and post a picture of me in a shirt. The idea came about easy enough…. companies/sites want exposure and I love t-shirts. Especially the shirt kind. Well earlier this week I took this picture and thought I would share. Its basically the 48 t-shirts that I have in a box in que for Free shirt friday.

I’m trying to come up with a clever design to send one to you, Jeremy!

Wow. A lot of t-shirts. I’ll be sending you one soon enough!

That’s a lot of shirts. What do you do with them all (besides wear them)? lol

Reply

4 Five Dollar Wiki October 10, 2007 at 11:18 pm

Are you giving them out???

Reply

5 Michael Kwan October 10, 2007 at 11:38 pm

You know what this means, folks. If you send the Shoe a shirt, your post won’t show up for another YEAR. By that time, some of these sites and services that people are trying to promote may not even exist .

Hahahaha well at least they’re ordered in a systematic and orderly fashion! :) I mean, we wouldn’t want wrinkles or anything ;)

Hehehe… J/k – That’s a lot of tshits :)

Ok man… so who does your laundry? That’s just not right. Wear the shirt… stick it in a box? lol Something tells me I see an eBay auction or a garage sale in the near future. :)

I need to create something that Jeremy will wear out so people will talk about it! Now, to the drawing board to come up with something clever… ^_^

So if we send in a shirt now, it might get posted in September 2008. That’s a big queue.

Meaning: stop sending shirts you dumbshits!

That’s pretty clever.

Reply

27 browie October 11, 2007 at 6:04 am

Oh, I think I see my shirt. LoL

Lots of shirts man, how will you ever get through them? You’re going to have to do Free T-Shirt Friday but do 3 at a time.

Reply

28 Chris October 11, 2007 at 6:16 am

You should start a different piece of clothing for each day, then you wouldn’t need to purchase clothes again.

Reply

29 jim October 11, 2007 at 6:24 am

That is a LOT of shirts… send some to the donation center after you’re done. :)

Why don’t you send the shirts to other smaller bloggers, we can take pictures of us wearing them and you can post the picture of us in that shirt along with a link to our site for Free Shirt Friday?

Reply

33 ritchie October 11, 2007 at 7:14 am

Oh my… I had no idea the queue is so long :-)
And my shirts are still in the printer’s press, does it still make sense to send you fresh shirts?

Reply

a translucent shirt with the sm-logo that glows in the dark? :-)

Reply

35 CatherineL October 11, 2007 at 7:21 am

That is a lot of tshirts shoe. So, if I sent you one, would it take a whole year for you to wear it? Or do you pick your favourite ones first?

I was thinking the same thing.

Thought Bubble : “Why in hell did I ever start this T-Shirt thing?”

Reply

45 Harrisburg Web Design October 11, 2007 at 9:54 am

So do they make the site roughly in the order received or does shirt design count for anything? I would think you’d want to go for the coolest shirts or the best companies, instead of just basing it on time in queue.

I’ve got it, Shoe! You line up a few of the Shoefolks in a row each Friday for the pic so you can knock out more shirts…say you, Dillsmack, Neil, etc…hehe OK just a thought..;)

I don’t know if T-shirts are considered SPAM though. What is the definition of SPAM? It seems like the label is used for aggressive marketing too…which is bad for SEO guys…

Got it, just do a slideshow where you wear each shirt with a link back or a shout out to whoever the person/company is on it, that way you can get them all banged out at once.

Jeremy, as someone who appreciates the value of reciprocal links, do you allow those whose shirts you model on your site to post the photo on the shirt ‘donor’s’ site with a link back to Shoemoney?

Except spam is unwanted – who wouldn’t want free t-shirts? He should worry if he starts getting other articles of clothing unsolicited. That would be spam… like Thong Thursdays or something nasty like that. Filter out all free thongs, but keep all free t-shirts.

I’d guess clever shirts or by actually knowing you, or by having a good site that you want to mention. I could be wrong, though.
