UFC 75 Champion VS Champion Picks

By Jeremy Schoemaker 39 comments

Tonights UFC event is FREE on spike tv! Its a great card too. Here are my picks:

  • PRIDE champion Dan Henderson (204 lbs.) vs. UFC champion Quinton Jackson (204 lbs.)
  • I think this is going to be a great fight. Jackson has the clear advantage standing while Henderson should dominate the ground game. Jackson has good take down defense though and I feel he will knock Henderson out fast. While I am picking Jackson in this fight I think the longer it goes the more it will go twords Henderson.

Bet: I am not betting on this fight.

  • Michael Bisping (205 lbs.) vs. Matt Hamill (205 lbs.)
  • This is the fight I am looking most forward to seeing. I really like Matt Hamill and I think his wrestling will completely overwhelm Bisping. Also Bisping has been hyped so much by the UFC and they have given him total creme puffs to fight. This is also the fight to bet on IMO cause the UFC has hyped him up so much trying to bring in the British/UK fans into MMA but in reality this guy has looked pretty bad against other bad opponents.

Bet: I am put 200$ down on Matt Hamill. He is the underdog at +210 so if Matt Hamill wins I will win 420$ hey 420, nice!

  • Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic (220 lbs.) vs. Cheick Kongo (231 lbs.)
  • Cro Cop should win this fight but he is coming off of a horrible loss… one of those loses a fighter possible will never recover from. This will be a good test for him tonight against Kongo. If Kongo is aggressive he can win this fight. I am picking Cro Cop to win this fight.

Bet: Even though I am picking Cro Cop to win this fight bodog has Kongo at +300 or a 3:1 underdog. I do not think Kongo is a 3:1 underdog and I put 100$ on Kongo meaning if he wins I will win 300$

  • Houston Alexander (203 lbs.) vs. Alessio Sakara (205 lbs.)
  • Omaha in the house! I really like Alexander. I am looking forward to seeing him be tested by Sakara a bit on the ground. I am Picking Houston Alexander to win.

Bet: I am betting on my boy Houston Alexander to win this fight. He is the -170 favorite. I am betting 340$ on him to win which means I will win 200$ if Houston wins.

You can see the full lines at bodog here

The fights are just now getting underway and you can get live results from MMA Junkie. Please dont post any spoilers@!!@!@!

Gee, you’re really lucky. I didn’t watch other fights, but I watched Cro Cop vs. Kongo, and unfortunately Cro Cop lost (but you won :) ). I’m a bit sad because of Mirko, ’cause I thought he’d win this fight after that defeat few months ago.

      Greetz from Croatia!

I just got back from the fights. 5 Knockouts, 1 submission, and 3 decisions. As usual, I like the undercards more than the main fights; the stuff they don’t even normally show on PPV.

I’m stoked for the Bisping - Hamill fight. I have a feeling Matt will do very well but still take some shots from Bisping. Matt better take him to the ground asap tonight for a good chance at a win.

I would put my money on Bisping - he’s just so fast and skilled all around.

You cannot take the UFC any serious anymore. I was a huge fan, but after tonight I can say: Don King has arrived in the UFC. Matt Hamil clearly beat Bisping. What a joke!

Hamill dominated bisping, bisping should be ashamed that he had to use home field advantage to win.

Not a bad night of fights.

Do you think the Bisping / Hamill decision was the right one? I love them both, but come on, how many times did Bisping get taken down? I must have seen a different fight.

i didnt know that some one who gets like 6 takes downs and wins in the stand up can lose to some one who got no take downs and got like 4 hits in the last round . Bisping punches were block amost every time by Hamil forearms . Hamil was very controlling, and respectful, i cant believe how cocky Bisping was after the fight telling Hamil to go back to wrestling.. i am more then disapointed dana should really do somthing.

WTF? I love how Bisping is talking shit and acting cocky after that fight was CLEARLY Hamill’s win. He should have kept his mouth shut, left the ring and enjoyed that rigged decision with his UK buddies.

      Hamill kicked bisbing’s ass.

Jackson was actually impressive on the ground controlling henderson and getting out of a few submission attempts. He’s definitely a better fighter since getting his ass kicked twice by the axe murderer and shogun.

I’m going to set up a TV in another room of my house so I can watch more UFC. If the cast of Friends isn’t in it we don’t watch it. I would love for one of the UFC fighters to kick Chandler’s ass.

Man UFC and MMA have really been taking off. Last year they were ‘tiny’, and next year they will probably be 30x as popular as they are right now. Gotta love people beating the crap out of each other.

I also was waiting for the Brisbane Hamill fight. If you saw the same fight I saw you’ve got to be pissed! I didn’t really have a dog in this fight. I really like both guys. It was a long time coming, these two. But I gotta say the judges must have seen a different fight than I saw. Hamill just mauled him the entire fight. Even Joe and Mike were accouning the whole fight how Hamill was simply dominating Brisbane. And it also pissed me off that neither one said a word when the verdict came in. In fact if you listen to the back ground noise when they interviewed Brisbane after the fight the crowd booed the entire time. And Hamill, being such a good sportsman congradulated Brisbane after the fight. Real class in my opinion since he was just mugged by the British. I awfully glad I didn’t have money on that fight, you said you did so I would imagine you must be pissed also. Or maybe Im off base. what do you think. I also thought the main event was really lackluster. These two guys are exciting fighters but they sure didn’t exibited it in this fight did they? But maybe I just an orfice at the end of a colon! But I don’t think so bye.
