Apple Quad Core 3Ghz G5 With Dual 30″ Monitors

Ok so I get asked a lot for updated pictures of my office and what Kind of computer I use.

I have a Apple Quad core:

Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro2,1
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 3 GHz
Number Of Processors: 2
Total Number Of Cores: 8
L2 Cache (per processor): 8 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz

So thats 8 total cores of power! WOOT!

I also have 2 30″ Apple cinema displays. I think the whole rig cost just under 10k or so. Worth every penny!

On the monitor to the left I usually monitor logs and keep chat/email windows open on the right I do my main stuff coding/surfing/watching movies

Here are so photos of me at work today… while eating Taco Bell.

i see an anti-acid bottle and some prescription on your desk. You can tell a lot about a person by what is (or not) on their desk. a picture says a thousand words.

  2. Krunal Chauhan

Wow Quad PC ;) i’d love it.. Though my Dedicated server is quad :D

  3. KiwiPulse

It cost an arm to buy it. At that price, I hope that rock! :D

  4. Paul

This would cause some pain in my neck ;)

  5. katurday

I have two 24″ monitors and can’t imagine going for anything less..

  6. Joeychgo

I have a similar setup, but not mac. I have 2 quad cores and for monitors I have a 24″ and a 19″ monitor as well as a 15″ monitor. (I like to see things in different sizes, like my users)

  7. New Home Business

Wow that is a serious set up there. I’m looking at getting a new 24″ widescreen and I think that is going to be huge. Dual 30″ monitors is amazing and has to really boost productivity.

  8. Justin

The tums and taco bell go hand in hand. BTW love the dual monitors been using them for years and could never go back.

  9. stupid 3gp

amazing environment. I would like to ask does that 30inch moniter works fine ? no strain on eyes as you are sitting so close to it.

  10. Mark

Hey you said “On the monitor to the left I usually monitor logs ” what do you mean by monitoring logs?

    Cheers

  11. David Savage

Nice setup, (especially the taco bell), I could never work on monitors that big.

  12. dillsmack

    You sir, are a moron.

  13. Blogs for Money

    LOL!!

    That’s a nice setup :D I’m currently on a 19″ widescreen – sucks :(

  14. Pogung177

I see you read REVENUE Magazine…. Shoe..?

  15. Pogung177

I see you read REVENUE magazine…. don’t you..?

  16. Joeychgo

eh – gotta stay away from the Taco Bell Jeremy

  17. Jeff

That is a Universal Remote by Marantz. It’s a touchscreen – 2 hander and can be personalized to run multiple home theatre systems and home audio etc. I prefer the line from Logitech personally – way easier to program.

  18. Paul.

I did a mock up rig similar to what you’ve got here. Mine came to $13,500. Fantasy world haha.

  19. Michael Fultz

The great oz would be jealous..

  20. Kolby Bothe

For some reason lately I have started to eat a lot more Taco Bell and have been working in my boxers for 4 hours a day, maybe that means I will be making a lot more money soon since you do the same LOL……

By the way, badass setup man…good stuff brotha

  21. Dave Starr --- ROI Guy

Paul, Shoe(and others with the same thoughts), please. don’t read this is if I am being a wise-ass. I really mean this question honest;y … becuase it’s something “I am about” both on line and off …

How dd you “justify” having two 20″ monitors in the first place? I believe you can get enough increased productivity from two monitors as opposed to one to “justify” the cost/occasional hassle/desktop space … but that’s a feeling … I have no data to back it up.

If there’s an actual process you went through to “justify” dual monitors, then how would you further quantify the proces to decide between 17″, 20″, 30″ etc.?

Or is it becuase dual monitors are kewl and you just won’t spend extra for bigger?

  22. Modern Worker

GG on the monitor set-up, good taste!

  23. king jacob

Im just waiting for them to come out with tvs so clear that you could use them as artificial windows, of course if you got a big enough tv someone could acidently walk into it:)

  24. jocko

and we take this guy’s advice? ;)

  25. Nick Sullivan

That’s absolutely class. I’ve never owned a Mac, I know they’re more powerful but how are they to use in comparison to a normal desktop or a powerful desktop like a maxed out XPS?

  26. Mike

    Great stuff man!

You should listen to others about the diet pop. Stop drinking it.

Post more pics of the “evolution” of the office. :D

  27. Mike Mmirg

Tell us about that ergonomic looking chair…

  28. CPA Affiliates

Having two monitors definitely helps me. My productivity increased drastically especially since now AIM etc.. doesn’t popup infront of my work but on the other screen and i can choose to respond or not.

  29. CPA Affiliates

Of course working in your boxers is great… but best part is not working and watching TV in your boxers and still making money :)

  30. jim

Dang, I guess I need a God of Money haha

  31. jim

    “Honey, It’s keyword research!!!!!!”

    hahahah

  32. Eric

My favorite has got to be the crib in the corner – priorities, right? :)

  33. lyricsreg

now that’s a work environment … really nice

  34. The Dino

Well that looks even better than at my work where I do work with 4 monitors… but at home I have for my online business only old laptop basicly used as type writer :)

  35. AleViga

wow!!!Your mac pro quad core is fantastic!!the 2 30″ apple cinemas display are so big…
    congratulations!!

  36. Grivon

Damnnnnn that must be sweet – I’ll bet you can get almost proportionately more work done compared to a smaller screen no? I’m almost positive I could take on more tasks with that kindof setup!!

  37. Joe

So where are the big lcd’s?

  38. Seo Next

Wow, very good computer so you use Mac also your monitors are very huge 30” .I love to work on such systems.

  39. Jeremy

I love the boxers, that’s how I prefer to do it as well ;)

    “The man behind the blog”

    lol

  41. Paul.

I’ve been wanting Dual 30″ monitors for sometime now. I can’t justify spending that much right now so I’ll have to stick with my dual 20″.

  42. Gary R. Hess

    Except with extra cheese.

  43. Click Input

Man working from home for yourself can be a good lifestyle!

  44. Click Input

    Haha yes, this is true

  45. Failure Sucks!

Dude, that diet pop will kill you…give it up.

  46. Israel

damn, working in shorts. your the man.

  47. Darren

serious screen real estate! I was about to buy a second 23 incher – but now I’m wondering about two 30’s :-)

  48. LGR

Very nice! Nice to see a worked in office as well. Not like some of those other bloggers that have spotless desks. Can you really trust a person with a clean desk?

  49. king jacob

the same thing as everyone esle

  50. king jacob

I think a 30″ cinema would display would burn my retinas after primarily using a 14″ laptop display.

  51. Brandon

Shoe – you are a pasty pimp.

  52. Kathryn

No wonder I like you – you are married to a smart woman, you eat Taco Bell & drink Diet Pepsi! Sorry I can’t comment on jealousy over the computer set-up, I’m not the tech one in our household.

  53. Travel Notebook

BTW – What is that charging next to your dvd-r spindle?

  54. Travel Notebook

Not only does he have dual monitors, an amazing mac machine and a HUGE tv — He has someone taking photos for him!!

  55. Travel Notebook

OMG god of money – Such a good item to have on your desk. I need to throw away some of my junk and make room for my own god of money

  56. TOMBALLTX

yeah tell the guy who did that – he did a really really nice job (& if u did that yourself kudos to u)… i like the looks of it – as you can’t tell at all – and that’s a really crisp pic i thought. i would have swore that was a plasma / lcd and then hung on the wall with a picture frame around it.

i just think it looks so much better when you have a wooden frame – ahhh sorta disappointing though as we’ll have to continue our search… :(

post the evol of ur office – i’d like to read that – i always like to read about other peoples offices and workspaces – i was supposed to have my own from a year ago in my new office, however my real boss moved in and she never moved out, workspace diminished, my A.D.D. kicks in full force in between the blaring hispanic music and the cackling at customers/friends/relatives at ear shattering decibels… so i say green with envy… please share!!! i have to live vicariously! :) by the way that’s a nice big work space too…

  57. Travel Notebook

Serious? I was just joking about your last photo that got you busted. So I guess you really do have a Janet Jackson folder :)

  58. Dave

    can i just insult you?

  59. TheDirectoryDude

Wow, sweet set up! Love the 30″ monitors.

Hmmm, taco bell sounds good too:)

  60. Lyndon

WOW, what a sweet setup. You’re living the life Shoe. Great computer, two 30″ monitors and sitting around in your boxers while you work…

  61. Brent

Slick set up. Looks like you have networking set up throughout. Those 30″ Cinema’s must be damn nice to use everyday…nothing beats a huge monitor (or 2)…and a good chair.

  62. Ken Savage

do you actually goto Taco Hell and buy that stuff. It’s totally comfort food but there’s gotta be something better. Always gave me the shits. hey aren’t you working out and eating right lately? Caught ya!

  63. Robert

Love the Tums and aspirin :)

  64. Jonathan Volk

Glad you have the tums ready for after the taco bell. :D

That is one sweet setup you got there :)

I believe I saw a Plasma / LCD Tv in the office before… Not sure if you still have it?

  65. Jeremy Steele

So I guess that answers the question: what do millionaires eat for lunch?

    :P

  66. Brian Mark

Funny… I did a post on some of my servers and my desk at work here, then noticed your post. Guess it’s just one of those days.

  67. doug m

sweet setup. what game are you playing on the xbox in those pics?

  68. James Pegram

    That totally rocks

  69. Gary R. Hess

I call dibs on this for whenever you decide to buy a new computer ;)

  70. Aditya Kumar Singh

Well well well. you are my role model while i work online :D

And your workspace quite resembles mine (full of eatables)

  71. Chad Ledford

You are going to need those Tums after Taco Hell.

  72. ShoeMoney

Hi thats actually a full size sony 60″ grand wega that I had built into the wall. I could not find anything close to the picture quality so I just built it into the wall then had a wood frame made around it.

You can see the before pictures here with the tv and speaker holes framed out-

(I should probably do a post on the evolution of my office)

  73. TOMBALLTX

hey where did you get the frame for the plasma/lcd that’s hanging on the wall – i’ve looked around for some and they look junky at the ones i’ve found that looks pretty slick… lemme know in between chompin down that gordita… :)

  74. Alissa

You make me want to upgrade my computers right now :)

  75. Kiley

Actually, I believe that is Optimash Prime, and I didn’t even have to zoom x 50. LOL
