This is the week I always mark on my calendar as “Christmas research”. Basically I just put into some notes items I am watching that could be the next “hottest thing” this year. I will also be pinging friends at SES @ San Jose, CA next week to stealing there ideassee what they are up to.
Our economy is doing well people are spending money like they are bleeding it. I think we will have a good Christmas season for online marketers. I predict PPC spending will be at a all time high (ya i know not really going out on a limb there) so what does that mean? Well it means its a good time to be a contextual advertiser (ala AdSense/YPN) but maybe not the best time if your going to jump into PPC because the margins ppc –> affiliate will be pretty slim.

I think it’s abit early to get ready for Xmas. But the perfect time to start some kind of marketing idea. Xmas gets bigger each year! I think Internet Marketers could exploit it more.

I wonder what the PPC cost on a major Christmas term will run. Another reason to do good SEO to keep costs down.

I wonder about this too. We don’t have anything new to tickle this year! But it may be something along the lines of Transformers, since that may be out on DVD and they could tie it in to holiday sales.

I agree. In some of my posts, I recommended that my readers start thinking about Christmas ideas now, such as this one about making money with Christmas lights:

Volume volume volume… internet marketing’s answer to real estate jokes :p

I wonder if Nintendo will get the supply side right this year? Last year resulted in some shameless profiteering for those in the know.
August 13, 2007 at 6:35 pm
When I was a kid, Xmas put a smile on my face cos of all the presents I’d get. Now it puts a smile on my face as Affiliate revenue and online sales shoot through the roof for a few months!

Has anyone ever tried to market snowboards and snowboarding gear?
August 13, 2007 at 4:43 pm
Hmmmm, i’m glad you asked the question and not me. Even though we were all wondering it. I have a feeling people will be playing their cards close to their vest. Don’t you?
August 13, 2007 at 3:19 pm
Video games will probably be big since those two consoles released right b4 christmas last year.
August 13, 2007 at 2:39 pm
I can only imagine how much will be spent on PPC overall
August 13, 2007 at 2:29 pm
Time to start thinking about Christmas products I want
… PPC spending will certainly be at an all time high, though I’d still prefer that over running Adsense.
August 13, 2007 at 2:20 pm
Time to start thinking of Christmas products to review I guess…

The Wii is a great system. I’ve played a few of them recently and was really impressed.
August 13, 2007 at 1:11 pm
I can predict that Nintendo Wii will be a hot seller.
I wrote a post about Chrismas a few days ago. Being ready months before is always better than doing everything at the last moment.
August 13, 2007 at 1:11 pm
What is the projected hottest gift for this year? there will be no new game consoles..
August 13, 2007 at 1:02 pm
I actually thought about hitting hot trends as they come, but I don’t feel I have reached that point in my AM career to pursue it. I’m still trying to build stable yearly campaigns. Until then, I will have to wait

This is an excellent point! Even though Xmas is a few months out, now is the time to put on your thinking cap!
August 13, 2007 at 12:28 pm
I was actually thinking about starting with PPC. Making some landing pages and see how they work out, but reading this I guess you are right, and now would not really be the best time to advertise.
