Apple Brings AdSense to the Masses

by bigdave on August 8, 2007 · 46 comments

With the release yesterday of iLife 08. Apple has added AdSense right into iWeb. You’ll notice that they seem to push the google maps intergration not adsense, so I was watching the demo video for iLife and got some shots of how easy it will be for people to add AdSense to their pages.

iWeb Adsense 1 iWeb Adsense 2 iWeb Adsense 3

This is an interesting addition to the suite and one that will surely interesting to see if/how people use it.

Oh man, they are going to make a fortune with that. Just like the Firefox google search box. Can you tell I am trying to be the top commenter?

Does firefox get credit for the adsense clicks from search results coming from their browser?

didnt blogger/blogspot brought easy adsense integration to the masses. they even have/had the ability to sign up for adsense on blogger.

Yes they do, it adds up to like $50-75 million a year from Google. Of course, I’m assuming Firefox has adeal with Yahoo, eBay, etc… too, but perhaps they don’t.

iWeb is a cool app and all, but I honestly haven’t seen it used for much. People who take the “free” route tend to go blogger, wordpress, myspace, etc… I don’t see this making much impact.

The demo image shows a Travel Blog… What blog platform are they editing with the software or are they creating a blog from scratch with a WYSIWYG application?

Reply

10 Hawaii SEO August 8, 2007 at 7:35 pm

I found the answer… It’s a WYSIWYG application but it appears very limited at first glance. I have always wished that someone would develop a WYSIWYG application for developing WordPress themes.

Google > Microsoft because instead of them shoving themselves down your throat, they get other people to do it for them. Beaaautiful.

I’m thinking of getting a mac so this is interesting – I wonder if this is through the google adsense api and whether or not publishers are getting a full revenue share?? jensense must know!? Ask her for me shoe?! I don’t think a question from myself would warrant a response :p

Hah yea… and supposedly none (non 99% anyways) of the original developers get a cut… it’s incredible really…

So i’ve been really trying to save up to buy a place and remebered your adsense check so started to really dig for info…and now im looking at about $450 for this month in adsense at current daily revenue rate and for 2 weeks now..i started trying out adzoogle and i’ve made $110 with a great margin of return.

So full heartly..thank you!

And if you haven’t checked out my site…I’m helping others make money with adsense and telling them what I learn.

How many bloggers have–or can get approved for–an AdSense ID? This is not that significant.

They’ve really cracked down on approving new AdSense publishers, and it’s about time. The content network is so dodgy now that on my AdWords campaigns I either turn it off, or set a maximum of $0.01 for the content network stuff.

toruble is, publishers are lokoing for ways to make more money, and some are leaving Adsense, replacing adsense with other programs.

Kind of sucks to see developers pushing advertising like this.

On the flipside, this will help those who push out open source apps/software/etc to get something back in return. I strongly believe that developers/designers should have the option to make money (directly or less directly) from their toils.

33 Shortshire August 9, 2007 at 3:01 pm

I am wondering how much Apple is getting from even having that option on their blog software. The first timers to the blogs are going to try to generate money for adsense but soon realize that they need 100 dollars in a 100 days from random clicks. Many users will not make this and probably get angry at the iLife 08 for not being able to make enough money.

Microsoft better do something soon, because the whole world of technology revolves around Google and Apple right now.

Apple will quickly pull some major cash as a pseudo-affiliate with this program. Why do you think they introduced Safari for Windows. It’s nice to have a Windows platform html renderer for IPhone, but it’s mainly just another Google driven revenue stream.
