Checking In On 2007 Goals

by Jeremy Schoemaker on July 24, 2007 · 102 comments

So last year I posted my Goals for 2007:

  • increase company profits by 25%
  • 300+ Google Coop subscribers and I am not doing anything with it. Need to integrate Google Coop more.
  • Hire a full time web designer (been looking for abut 5 years now)
  • Attend an event at the Playboy Mansion
  • Make a website that makes a difference in the world
  • Play more with 3rd tier PPC engines
  • Do more experiments with PPC
  • Do more video on my blog
  • Be more humble
  • loose 20 lbs of fat gain 30lbs of muscle
  • Complete my corporate website with good info on services we do offer

Being its almost August we are about 3/4 of the way through the year. Lets see how we are doing.

increase company profits by 25%

We totally restructured ShoeMoney Media Groups focus in Jan/Feb. It was a big gamble but its looking like we will more then double last years profits.

300+ Google Coop subscribers and I am not doing anything with it. Need to integrate Google Coop more.

I still want to do something with this. More of a fun/cool thing to do. I think it would be pretty easy to write something to integrate it with wordpress tagging… I don’t want to get spammy though. This is something that I will probably never do.

Hire a full time web designer (been looking for abut 5 years now)

I think I have learned that I like having a good arsenal of contractors for various things.

Attend an event at the Playboy Mansion

I have been invited to 3 so far this year it just hasnt worked out yet… I still have 4 months ;)

Make a website that makes a difference in the world

Hmmm I am not sure I have done this one. I think AuctionAds being that we started in March and have grown to 25,000 publishers showing 300 million impressions a day on over 80,000 unique domains is the hottest new advertising product for 2007. Many people have told me it has helped them a lot. Not sure about a world impact. Dillsmack and I have some bigger fish that might make a bigger splash in the works for 2008.

Play more with 3rd tier PPC engines

I am finding they are not worth it.

Do more experiments with PPC

That will be coming soon. I look forward to ramping up PPC again.

Do more video on my blog

I have done some. I do want to do more though.

Be more humble

Geez I do think about this one a bunch. The problem is everyone wants real world numbers to backup your examples. Its kind of a damned if you do damned if you don’t.

loose 20 lbs of fat gain 30lbs of muscle

Getting there

beforeandafter

In 2007 so far and have gained a bit of muscle mass. I am guessing at this point I have probably lost 30 lbs of fat and gained 15-20 lbs of muscle but who knows really.

Complete my corporate website with good info on services we do offer

done! “We provide solutions” (generally just to ourself)

Great job with the weight loss, that can be difficult even with the surgery. A lot of people just end up going back to the way they were. Also congrats on doubling your profits!

Wow, congrats on the transformation. Losing 225lbs is no easy task even if part of it is due to the surgery. Looks like the training sessions are really paying off.

I’m showing my sister this blog, four years ago she had gastric bypass surgery and lost originally around 200 – 230 pounds, she weighed 400 before the surgery. Now she’s gained back some of it and eats for crap because she never had to actually work to get the weight off, kudos for not copping out with a surgical procedure. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, but I personally believe the discipline it takes to lose it once the right way, will stay with you for life.

A shortcut is just that, you usually have to go back over that same ground eventually. Congrats on ALL of your success! You motivate me.

Super true. Its a major give and take. If you have weight loss surgery but then never do anything you will get fat again and also have all the negatives with weight loss surgery. I now do weight training 3x a week and cardio at least 1 time a week. I also have to take Vitamin supliments from the malabsorbtion effects of the weight loss surgery (vitamin d-e-a-k + calcium)

Lots of people have the surgery and get fat again, the surgery hardly guarantees anything, good job man.

Wow, I had no idea that you used to look as big as you did in 2003. That’s a huge accomplishment to lose all that weight and gain the muscle mass you have! I’m truly inspired.

With that said, I have a serious question that I hope you can answer. Do you think losing the weight has positively effected your professional efforts in any way, whether it be something as simple as encouragement, greater vigor, demonstrating your ability to succeed to yourself, or something similar?

I have been to Heffner’s hilltop two times. It is much classier than you might think. Beautiful grounds.

Went to a reunion party for the Playmates of the Year, which sounds great but most of the ladies were dressed down, older and smoking a lot. Not quite the fantasy, they were regular people! Most of the ones I spoke with wanted to complain about the company and what it hadn’t done for them lately.

Great place for a party. Hef didn’t ask me back.

Impressed with the shoulders but your chest needs more work.

Incorporate some good old fashion pressups into your routine but balance your feet about 1 foot above the gound when you do them for extra effect.

As for the overall results – suberb :)
