Rubiks Cube Solve – Unofficial AuctionAds Sponsorship

by Jeremy Schoemaker on July 23, 2007 · 41 comments

Luke aka Stickycarrots put up this site and it was pretty cool to see the video posted below. As we soar past 25,000 publishers this week it still amazes me how huge AuctionAds has become. At Affiliate summit I had soooo many people come up to me and thank me for building AuctionAds. The sad part was that Dillsmack who actually did all the development for AuctionAds was unable to attend =(. He was putting in more servers. As I write this we have even more servers en route to accommodate the crazy growth.

Here is a new chart you can see growth:

What a defeat, both auctionads and the cube. Congrats on everything working well.

Well done on Auction Ads – that’s v impressive. I didn’t realise that rubiks cubes had got so popular again.

I never really had any luck with auction ads on any of my sites yet. Anyone else care to comment?

AuctionAds for us has been amazing, more then 4x what Adsense was generating

I didn’t either – but it looks like I may not have stuck with the program long enough to find out. Next time I will be sure to use Auction Ads long enough to test the cookie instead of just impulse clicks/purchases.

Who was on the video? I could make Rubik cube some time ago but I forgot how… but it was much slower than this.

I was the one in the video. I am actually using the Rubik’s Cube to try to build some serious revenue with AuctionAds. I’ve setup a Rubik’s Cube video website and I’ve tried several different ways to promote the ads on there:

They aren’t converting that great yet, but it’s been fun to mess around with.

The cube is trying to make a nice comeback. It’s a very addicting hobby :P

Check out the Google Trends on it:

I’m actually considering giving auction ads a go next month.

I am kinda waiting for you to announce the sale to eBay. Any idea on when we can expect that?

Anyway, a friend of mine is experimenting with AA and pretty pleased about it. Might give it a shot myself next month. Good luck with the servers ;-)

I got one of them 4x4x4 cubes a few months back. Thats a dead complicated cube to solve.

Once you get past the first few steps it’s a lot like solving the 3×3. It just takes practice and memorization. I’ve done both the 4×4 and 5×5, but I don’t really have either completely memorized. There’s too much to learn with the 3×3 to worry about those right now :P

AuctionAds has outperformed Adsense on all of my forums. We even have a support forum on vBulletin-faq.com for AuctionAds.

Talk about a niche site! Who would think that something as simple as a page that details one particular thing — and only that — would do so well! You’ve given birth to more ideas!

I solve my cube on my blog and put it on youtube a while back. I’m not a speed demon but it’s good enough.

Why wait? It only takes a few minutes to put it on your site.

I have had no luck but I am thinking of making some made for aucitonads sites like this cube one and giving it another go.

I agree. Out of nearly 10,000 impressions I havent managed to make one cent! Could be down to my site being UK and Ireland targeted though.

Yeah you should try it out

Great example of how to use a viral video to promote your company. The only better linkbait would have been a hot chick with the auctionads shirt solving the cube:)

Ok, I just signed up for AuctionAds. I’ve been doing well with Adsense and CJ. I hope I can do even better with AuctionAds. It would feel better to make most of my money while helping Shoe’s Co. make money too. Google never notices me, but a smaller company like this would.
Wish me luck.

I saw on a talk show recently Will Smith solve a Rubiks Cube even quicker than that video. Pretty impressive for someone with millions of dollars (he might be richer than ShoeMoney even!)
