Al Gore Get A DUI – Lots Of Other Drugs Found

by Jeremy Schoemaker on July 5, 2007 · 45 comments

Al Gore Drugs DUIAl Gore III, son of the former vice president, academy award winner, and the guy who gave up the presidency, was busted late last night for a DUI.

The deputy smelled marijuana and searched the car, said sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino. The search turned up a small amount of marijuana, along with Valium, Xanax, Vicodin, Adderall and Soma.

Gore was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and booked into the Inmate Reception Center in Santa Ana, about 34 miles south of Los Angeles, on $20,000 bail. Although he quickly identified himself as the son of the former vice president, Amormino said Gore received no special privileges.

As my friend CK would say “That’s CRAZY!”

Wicked. Wasn’t Bill Clinton the guy who stated that he “smoked Mary Jane, but never inhaled”? Your president seem to have a hang for the green style :-)

Smoking marijuana — that can’t be good for the environment. What would Papa Gore do, I wonder.

3 Paul Bradish July 5, 2007 at 12:56 pm

Ouch. That won’t look good. Like Ritchie said, I bet he “didn’t inhale”.

It’s tough being the kid of a politician. You wouldn’t believe how many commit suicide. It must be hard to handle your family being that scrutinized during your formative years.

So… that’s where the term “poppin’ pills like Al Gore III” comes from?

Great link bait, Jeremy. When I read the article about the younger Gore yesterday I was waiting to see who would write the first “Al Gore arrested for DUI” post, and you’ve fulfilled my thought….

Thats too bad, especially if Gore decided to run in ’08….which he has not….I would love to see a Mike Bloomberg/Al Gore Ticket, though I highly doubt either would really want second billing.

The best part of the story was that Gore was caught going 100+ MPH in a PRIUS of all things. What a moron.

Reply

Yeah, it must take like 4 days to get that fast in a prius. :)

100+MPH in a Prius. Dang. (rofl)

Rich kids, famous guy’s kids, preachers kids, etc., seem to exhibit the worst behavior. You’d think with all the publicity and fame of their parents they’d make better decisions…

I remember when I was young and Jimmy Carter’s brother always made the news. I could never figure out why somebody was newsworthy just for having an interesting (celebrity) relative. Still makes no sense to me. Is this story supposed to suggest something about Al Sr. If not then what’s the point. I’m not speaking of the blog mind you, you’re just reporting on the reporting, it’s the reporting that shouldn’t be reported.

Lol, I saw this on cnbc and they were surprised too. But anyway, it is really bad that he did that, seems like a lot of famous people are getting caught doing stupid things lately.

Fame definitely has its downside. This, however, doesn’t change my view of Al Gore [The Dad] though; he will always have my utmost respect. Unless HE takes the drugs himself, of course.

Non-news.

Gore Sr. probably shared a dooby with his son before he left driving. Where’s the crime here? It’s weed!

“the guy who gave up the presidency”

Ha – you make it sound as if he willingly passed on the job. Kind of like saying the victim of a carjacking donated his vehicle to the poor…

Greg-

Cmon dude he conceeded. He won the popular vote and could have fought for it but instead gave it up.

Reply

27 FT July 6, 2007 at 5:50 pm

Exactly!

Plus, he made a horrible campaign move in distancing himself from Clinton… He concedes, then made the decision to just “move on” with life instead of coming back and running again. I have very little respect for that dude.

Of course, “moving on” has meant roughly a $99 million increase in his net worth, so some might say it was a smart move.

How right you are Nathania. Anyone who is in the public eye at such an early age is more susceptible to a tremendous amount of pressure. Not to mention ultra successful mom and pop are not going to be available.

I saw Al Gore on tv yesterday. I figured he would go into hiding for awhile because of his son. I guess it was a smooth move to get right back in there.

36 website copywriter July 8, 2007 at 1:11 pm

You mean to say he should have just stayed home and smoked in the basement or somewhere discreet? LOL I guess he was just having a bad day/life. It’s never easy being a politician’s son…a controversial politician’s son at that.

Definitely a linkbait jobber here. I think it’s pretty stupid they slap Al Gore’s son with $20K bail on some lightweight charges like this. As a resident of Florida, with a circuit court judge in my immediate family, there are people who get out on far less bail for more serious crimes than posession. LOL, marajuana posession is not a crime in Canada and most of Europe. The US is just anal because of all the religious right dopes who want to control everything we say, think or do. Not only that, it is a well known fact Anheuser-Busch has high paid lobbyists in Washington who work hard to keep cannabis a scheduled drug (see norml.org)

FYI, Valium, Xanax, Adderall are all commonly co-prescribed drugs for people with anxiety and/or ADHD. Every other software developer I ever worked with was in Adderall. Not sure about the Vicodin and Soma, those are painkillers, usually prescribed to females who have chronic meunstral pain…

And gimme a break, GWB was popped for a DUI and once for cocaine posession (see thesmokinggun website) but his daddy cleared it up and he became president, ole Dickie the “president of vice” was popped twice for DUI when he lived in Wyoming. Hey, maybe this is a sign tha that Al Gore Jr is on his way to being president some day…

and for the record, Rush Limbaugh was released on $3000 for his oxycoton bust and Noelle Bush (Jeb Bush’s daughter) was released to a treatment center with no bail for forging Xanax prescriptions where she was caught with cocaine Gov. Bush put a “gag order” on the media to bury the story…

At least Gore is correct concerning climate change, right? Or is he? He says it was human-caused, not simply Earth’s regular cycle over thousands of years. You think?
