The Video Behind The John Reese BMW M5 Story
By Jeremy Schoemaker

John Reese posted the video from StomperNet when he was presented a brand new BWM M5 from the foudners of StomperNet for being the biggest affiliate. I had heard the story from a few people that were in attendance but its pretty cool to see it live.
John gives the keynote and its one of the best keynotes I have heard from someone who has REAL experience. I met John for the first time at Ad:tech and I could tell in a few minutes he was the real deal. We have worked together lately on a few things and I gotta say he always “does more then expected”.
Also its not being presented the new BMW M5 that is the big story… its what he does with it at the end.

So when are you going to give away a BMW?
[Reply]
Someday i’ll be there, I know it. Must be nice!
[Reply]
Seemed a bit cheesy to me to be honest.
[Reply]
Well he has a lambo so what the heck is he going to do with a BMW anyways? I would have given it away too.
[Reply]
His advice was excellent, of course. But, the BMW? Faked, for marketing purposes. Those were two good tips.
[Reply]
Yeah thats john, hes qute the card. I wonder how I can get in the beemer lottery. Seriously its very cool to see a guy do something like that. In response to travel notebook I think if shoeboy EVER hands out a beemer Im pretty sure he’ll be giving it to one of the hotties he hangs out with. Hell wouldnt you!!! Gotta keep the ladies happy
[Reply]
Maybe he’ll use it as a beater. =)
[Reply]
Not anytime soon

I agree 100% planned but enough to fool some ppl
[Reply]
Can I get a free car for my most innovative use of AuctionAds for the complete beginner ( http://www.tradingcardstore.info/ )
[Reply]
It was not pre-planned in anyway, shape, or form. In fact, when I approached Brad and Andy (the owners of that company) with the idea they were SHOCKED. There was no ‘marketing’ purpose behind it. The people in attendance were already their paying customers. They had nothing more to sell them. And I, myself, had no products or services to sell them. It was truly done at the spur of the moment. I did it because I felt like it was the ‘right’ thing to do.

geeze…

Way to spoil it

So…anyone use STompernet?

I use StomperNET and can say that it’s great. For those who are not a member you are at a serious disadvantage. They’ll be releasing a magazine soon called, “The Net Effect”. Subscribe to it, read it, and learn. You’ll be amazed at how better of a marketer the faculty will make you.

Is there any possibility that this was not completely staged?
[Reply]
Nice way to award your top affiliate! But more importanty, it’s what John teaches that is priceless…mainly…work hard to get ahead, there are no shortcuts that will get you to the top.

Who cares giving a BMW to someone is pretty cool in my book under either circumstance.
[Reply]
Ok, fair enough. I didn’t mean to imply anything negative about it. It’s just that the receipient seemed a bit under-whelmed when presented with it, as did you. But then again, maybe he already had a Lambo in his garage as well.
[Reply]
Carl seriously if you listen to what John says in the video and keep those in mind I think reguardless its pretty awesome…
As far as it being staged. I know over 5 people that were in attendance and a few of the speakers and they all tell me it was legit.
[Reply]
There’s a chance that it could have been staged, but seriously: who cares if it was or not? Like Jeremy said, you need to listed to what he’s saying in the video.
[Reply]
Is StomperNet a good affiliate network? I haven’t heard much about them.
[Reply]
Did you expect him to cry like a little girl or something? What could the guy have said other than thank you while maintaining some dignity (in other words not blowing the guys that gave him the BMW)
[Reply]
Blowing guys!? Wha….?
[Reply]
I don’t get a few of these comments. There are plenty of ad campaigns with a huge company going the distance to trump up a “Free Trip to Cancun” or something much less valuable than a BMW.
Even if it was staged, which I doubt, who cares?
THE GUY GAVE AWAY A FRIGGIN BMW!
[Reply]
Well the offer was generous. However, the “New” BMW was not brand new as indicated. Brad and Andy gave John a 2002 M5 with 70k miles which was Brads old one and then John ( whom I assume drives only new nice rides!!!!) gave it to the winner…….. Again, I am not sure why Brad and Andy gave a used one away…… Kinda kills the thrill of the whole deal if u ask me….
[Reply]
They give away BMW’s so they must be good.
[Reply]
So what will Auction Ads be giving away?
[Reply]
Very nice that he gives the car away — but he seems very concerned with publicizing it.
However, I agree, his information is still very good.
[Reply]
Thats part of the reason for doing it Doug - publicity. ANy chance you ahve to market, you should jump on the chance. Look at how many people are talking about this. He’s getting his cost back in marketing.
[Reply]
You have your facts completely wrong. The car didn’t have 70K miles on it — you make it sound like the car was worthless. Yes, it was Brad’s private car. But the bottom line is the car was worth at least $50,000. I could have run an ad in the paper and easily gotten over $50,000 in cash for it instantly. But you’re missing the point of what ‘happened’… it was about doing something that was unexpected and trying to make a difference. If you can’t understand and appreciate that, then I can’t help you. People can cry “it was staged” or “why didn’t he throw in a new house too” or [insert any other scarcity-minded comment] and they completely miss the point of what happened.
[Reply]
Doug, I’m only ‘publicizing’ it to demonstrate the point of the lesson in the video. If I was really trying to publicize it I would put out a press release and contact media outlets; there’s no shortage of places that would write about this story. But I haven’t done that and don’t intend to. This, believe it or not, isn’t about marketing. Sure, it might be bringing me some traffic right now, but if I were going to use this for maximum marketing I would have done it THREE MONTHS AGO when it actually happened. In a few days some new videos that I will be posting will push this one farther down in the blog history and people will forget about it. Thanks for the compliments on the information.

John, sorry, it’s hard not to be a bit cynical sometimes. I think you’re s stand up guy and look forward to what you’re doing over at income.com.
[Reply]
Just keep trying. I feel the same.
[Reply]
Crazy stuff! I feel bad for John… he says “goodbye” to the Warrior Forum because of all the negativity and people accusing him of all kinds of so-called ‘evil schemes’, and then ends up finding the same crap here!
[Reply]
Great job John
[Reply]
John, I am a huge fan of yours. I was in no way rubbing you for giving it away. I am thrilled that you did give it away. You are a standup guy for that. I have a list of 100 things in life and one of them is to meet you. So sorry if I rubbed you weird. BUT….. my point was “why did Brad and Andy give you a used BMW when they should have given you a brand new one.” I dont know any give aways that give away used cars. That takes the thrill out of it for me. besides a 5+ year old car?
I am very excited to see what income.com provides.
Oh and FYI, the 70k miles figure I got was from the horses mouth- Britt himself.
[Reply]
I’ve got to say, that’s cool. Nice one John
[Reply]
That’s nice!
[Reply]
I don’t, but would love someone that really is in it and not a guru already.
[Reply]
I’m not too sure if I’m sad that there are so many cynics around this industry or that so many people seem to be missing the point.
Then again I don’t care because from this story I got two things: An introduction to John Reese’s blog and from there the Reese/Shoemoney interview. I thought that Shoe’s first two interviews with Kris Jones on Net Income were inspiring but this one with John beats them hands down. Thanks guys!
[Reply]
Hmm that’s pretty tricky. How’s it working out?
[Reply]
Does the new owner have to pay the tax on the car? Isn’t that how game show prizes work?
[Reply]
ooo car the best )

wow lucky b
