My Recommended Services Page

On this site I have a place called the “Recs”. Its companies I have either done business with a ton or have went through a haystack to find. Its kind of a easy page to point people to who ask me what do I use for what.

I also get a lot of inquires from companies who want to be listed for a fee. Also people will do 1 or 2 jobs for me and ask when they can be listed there. It doesn’t work like that. These are people I do business with a lot and over a long period of time.

Anyway thats what it is.

Keeping the list to such high standards make being listed there even more “special”.

OK, so what you’re saying is that these are people who you recommend because you’ve done business with them and you haven’t had any major “issues” with them.

Is there a category for “people who I have done business with but have paid me to do business with them”? So, they’re sponsors who you’ve done business with and still recommend? LOL

I hope Tom did not have to pay you to be listed.

I think a list of people or companies you’ve done business with but DON’T recommend would be entertaining as well.

I agree with SEO blog. I’d like to see a list of the companies you don’t recommend doing business with.

I think a list of still doing business with would be better. Cause some companies I am sure shoe has doen business with that he wouldn’t touch now with 10 ft pole. I know there are a few on mine.

agreed. Whoever is on that page has gone through the gauntlet and passed.

me too. It would be nice to see an avoid list. It would save time but on the other hand, would probably drive traffic to them just the same. Don’t “they” say there is no such thing as negative publicity?

Last week you told us: “assume I am getting paid for or will get paid for anything I ever mention.”

So should we consider your Recs page an exception to that rule?

Both list would be valuable. I have a list of contractors that I can call up at anytime I need too. I don’t give this list out to my clients because 1. They don’t know the value of such a list 2. The average residential consumer does not want to pay for a high quality, high performance contractor to come out to their home.

I have a bunch of contente writers who I’ll never buy articles off again, at any price. But when I need good solid articles, there are two I’ve used in the past that charge $20 to $45 for a well researched and seo optimized articles. Good companies are priceless.

A rec from Shoe is worth big money and his reputation would be at steak if they didn’t come through.

Shoe, you took The Planet off of your recs list. Is their a hosting provider that you would recommend?

I think that this is a great idea. It takes the normal “sponsors” page one step further as these are businesses and individuals that you actually vouch for.

We no longer use managed hosting instead we got our own racks at he.net and iphouse.com

He’s not the only one to be screwed over by theplanet. I bet they lost a ton of business from that one post.

Great. I’m always looking for services, companies and sites big money makers are using.:P Just finished reading about John Chow. I’ve never heard of a few companies you’ve listed though.
