Full feeds are great. We went back and forth on that for a while, but overall it’s a good thing.
What matters is what your readers want. Some people want RSS, so you either give them full or they stop reading your stuff. Some want email subscriptions, so you give them that.
Many people are concerned about “spam blogs” sucking your content. But as long as you are Google spidered frequently (read: post often) and thus get Google primary content, life is good.
AND deep-linking to your site within your posts (with FULL URL, not relative path) get you free backlinks from non-sanctioned rss-sucking sites.
Have an awesome day!
Dan

Fullity, full, full…
May 28, 2007 at 12:21 pm
I always go to your site. so I dont mind if partial feed only.

I never thought about it until I read a post a couple weeks ago that said people prefer full feeds. So I promptly went and changed all of mine.
Good poll, I’d never thought the ratio would have been that wide.

I prefer the full feeds. The partial feeds force me to go to the site, but if it doesn’t look real interesting (present company excluded, of course) I won’t go there and skip on to the next post.

Full feeds! I use Google Reader for your feed but still come here anyways.
May 27, 2007 at 8:10 pm
I don’t care about full rss feeds. I still just visit the site to read live.
May 27, 2007 at 5:52 pm
I like the full feed.
May 27, 2007 at 5:42 pm
I come to the site daily… feeds no big deal for me
May 27, 2007 at 4:13 pm
And the shoe reacted
May 27, 2007 at 4:13 pm
Let’s see if they do… almost 9.000 is a lot anyways, considering the short feeds.
May 27, 2007 at 3:50 pm
What do you use for the Polls anyways? A WP Plugin?

I would naturally prefer full feeds as well, but the content at this site is so good that I dont mind the partial feeds. As a webmaster myself, I can also understand and appreciate the need for sites to use a partial feed so that people actually visit the site and see the ads etc.

The votes speak for themselves on this one shoe
May 27, 2007 at 2:43 pm
Exactly, go full or go home! Please?
May 27, 2007 at 2:42 pm
I personally don’t care which is what I voted. I will likely come to the site regardless of whether the feeds are full or partial.

A half full cup is also a half empty cup.
May 27, 2007 at 2:22 pm
Shoe, full feeds, come on. Go full or go home!
May 27, 2007 at 2:09 pm
Please switch to Full Feed! I know that you may get more traffic with the partial feed, but you’ll be getting a lot more happy subscribers with the full feed
May 27, 2007 at 1:42 pm
I don’t care, I allways go to the site and use RSS just to see when new posts have been made
May 27, 2007 at 1:26 pm
I like the full feed for when I’m at work. I use Thunderbird for my reader, so it looks like I am checking my email. For some reason checking email looks more like work then browsing the web does.
May 27, 2007 at 1:24 pm
Full. I read from a feed reader too, and I’m more likely to unsubscribe when I can only read a sentence or two from a partial feed. While I’ve been on vacation I’ve unsubscribed from almost all the sites that do partial feeds.
May 27, 2007 at 1:07 pm
I read most blogs through my feed reader… I prefer full by far.
May 27, 2007 at 12:53 pm
I definitely would prefer full feeds and I think you would see the number of your RSS subscriptions skyrocket if you offered this.
May 27, 2007 at 12:42 pm
I prefer full but the difference in page views will be remarkable if you choose this option.
