by Jeremy Schoemaker on May 12, 2007 · 65 comments

check out this video which came out last Tuesday… 220k views already. It discloses a bunch of “statistics” about internet porn. Who knows if they are real but…. quite the traffic bait.

Thanks Techcrunch

She deserves it, that was a good presentation.

Holy Crap! I’d like to think those number aren’t real, but then again, I’d like to think that I actually sat through that whole video because of the knowledge I might gain, not just because of some half naked hottie. I’d also like to believe that I’m 6’5″ and not actually 5’6″.

Have you even dabbled in the adult market?

I found this yesterday and of course I sat and watched the whole thing and then checked out her site. Definitely Viral Link Bait.

Wow… the “Footnotes” really cracked me up. Very interesting stats if they’re true. That’s a huge chunk of traffic I’ll never be trying to attract to one of my sites.

Wow, thats the best link bait I’ve ever seen. Awesome concept.

Brilliant. Utterly brilliant.

However I do have one issue to *ahem* raise. Why did she feel the need to qualify her statement that 72% of internet p0rn users are men by stating that 28% are women? I’d kinda guessed that already.

Very well done video. I wonder how much revenue it has generated for her site?

me rikey :)

I wonder about the annual revenue of porn though, I would think it’s more than 2B?

How do they get these totals anyways?

It must be hot subject of late as 20/20 did a thing on it a week or two ago and the stats were close to that of the video… just CRAZY!

i heard a rumor that you are working on a similar video to show up your stats, and the hot tub was just a teasing…

Funny you mention this! I saw it earlier today out of randomness on some video site!!!!

Those are sad, sad statistics. Although the numbers are huge, it is unfortunately believable. I overhear enough “porn talk” from my employees to convince me the stats are undoubtedly true.

I bet it took a long time to wash all that ink off of her…

Those sites may have the same stats, but the presentation is much better in this video. I bet it gets seen more on her than on those other sites.

Depends on what she used to wash it off with…ahem ;)

The only thing they could have done better IMO is change the front tile for the movie to something more “baity”

Reply

25 Thor Schrock May 13, 2007 at 2:18 pm

The numbers make sense, sine most of the world’s internet users are in the US. I employ people and I wonder how often they “goof off” on the job…

Perhaps they wanted to emphasize that 28% of porn users are women to illustrate that the ladies consume a fair share of this stuff too. Check out he site and you can see she does not discriminate.

Not too surprising. There’s a site that has nothing to do with porn that has G-rated “leg shots” of Katie Couric and they get a couple hundred K clicks per month from searches for Katie’s legs … I posted a little thumbnail of her and a mention about her legs in a blog post and -pow- 300% traffic increase that day. Never underestimate to prurience of the average web user

Im interested in hearing an answer to this aswell. They could make it up and if nobody knows the true values then nobody is going to say anything?

Hmm…

Thanks for these stats. Now when I having small talk and I say that 35% of all downloads are pornographic in nature and am asked where I got that stat I don’t have to say that it was written on some 1/2 naked girl’s arm.

I would believe that it was qualified because it’s something that the general internet population would not of calculated in their head.

Thanks for the post Shoe

well, i don’t find 89$/second a lot! I’m sure it’s much more than that, this is a billion if not trillion dollar industry, i think porn industries are the biggest beneficiaries of the internet, everyone has access to it!

It isn’t a secret that men look at porn more than women. If you think about it, it is alot easier for men to view and get pleasure from it than it is for women. All a man has to do is unzip and sit an watch. Men have everything easy.
