I lost My Cell Phone

Posted on: April 12th, 2007 by Jeremy Schoemaker

I lost my cellphone last night in the Hilton lounge. There was a little bruhaha in the lounge and we got kicked out… I got back to my room and realized I did not have my phone… what a crappy feeling. Then I went down and scoured the area and did not find it.

What sux now is I dunno if I should run to the local sprint store and drop like 600$ on a new one (how bad does that suck) or chill in hopes someone picked it up.

If you have it or know someone who might have picked it up please try to find me at the conference. I will love you long time.

you should ask your provider to block your number, maybe someone found it and is calling to everyone and is spending like $xxx … Just get it blocked so nobody can call with it.

I say wait if you can, if you need to make the calls go buy one. You can always sell it again on eBay.

Know the feeling, I lost all my keys and my USB drive a few weeks ago. I did get them back and it was a real load off my mind.

I too lost my phone in a hilton hotel, but that was after I threw up in the plants in the driveway of the hotel waiting for a taxi. I seem to remember we lost a bottle of dom perignon as well which my drunken buddy procured from a display in an exhibition about the history of champagne in the lobby?? That was an expensive night….

    April 12, 2007 at 11:21 am

    ouch :(

If it’s likely you’ll get a call which is worth more than $600 to you in the next few days, it’s probably (financially) worth your money buying a new phone.

(If worst comes to worst, you can run a competition on your blog – “Win My Shoephone!”) ;)

If having a phone isn’t worth $600 to you in the next few days, then you’re probably better off waiting for it to turn up.

I think the value of the phone is inversely proportionate to the likelihood it will turn up.. I can’t get rid of my brick ;)

    Brent

P.S. – I gotta ask – what was the bruhaha? In fact, what sort of bruhaha could possibly happen at an SES conference?

    hey shoe,
I got a free treo 650 here! I was skeptical too but they delivered right to my Hotel room in like 15 minutes, just enter your email address and answer some silly questions. It takes like three minutes. Just cut and paste this url into your browser!
    http://www.freeTREOatspammydomain.com

Just hope you backed it up. I lost my phone earlier this year… Now I’m going to back my new one up RIGHT NOW! I don’t even know my girlfriends phone number, my phone just knows. Who memorizes numbers anymore?

  17. Stephanie
    April 12, 2007 at 11:54 am

Missing mine too, but for a very different reason. One of my kids got their hands on it (I think), shortly before I needed to charge it, so while I know my phone is in the house, I can’t call it to figure out where it is. It should turn up soon, but it’s my 2 year old who doesn’t talk who tends to snag it, so questioning doesn’t help.

Drives me nuts, but at least I only rarely get calls on it.

Yeah, I work for US Cellular… I’ve never had a stolen cell phone report at all… Because it’s no use to the stealer. They can have it for a day maybe, and then the line will be suspended, or if they try to do anything the serial number is known to be stolen. I’m sure someone found it, it’s not like it was a ring or anything.

Someone might return it, let me tell you my story.

I live in upstate, NY. My fiance went to the Bronx (1hr and 45 mintues away)to drop off my niece at her mom’s. Anwyay, he dropped his phone in the building and didn’t notice. He has a camera phone. The picture is of me and our son.

I get a phone call from a lady that is visiting someone in the building. She resides in Boston Massachusetts. She tells me she was going to the store to buy pampers for her child and found the phone on the floor, in front of the elevator. When she opened it, she saw our picture and she found “Home” in the phone book. She asked me what she should do with the phone?! She dropped the phone off at my sister’s apartment.

What’s the point? Leave cute pictures of your kids, niece or nephew on your phone. They make people feel guilty. HaHa!

No, really … there still are people out there that are honest. I always return cell phones when I find them at the supermarket, WalMart and the mall. I believe “What comes around, goes around.”

    Good luck!

Is this post like the ultimate Shoemoney/ringtone/treo linkbait post or what?

Hopefully by now you’ve either found your phone, blocked your number, or something…it definitely sucks to have lost your phone, especially in a big city like NYC. I’d be surprised if you get it back.

Anyhow, I left my cell phone once on the way to the airport in Memphis and had left it on the seat of the shared ride van…went immediately back and turned out the driver had picked it up and turned it into his office. I was able to get it back right away that time.

Did you have the phone locked and a password on it by chance? Perhaps someone picked it up and turned it into the bartender or hotel staff? Man, does this bring back memories…

Your MessageMake sure your phone is immediately shut off by your provider, and next phone you get you should cover with a lost and found recovery service. I use TrackItBack and they will return your items for free. Good luck finding your phone.
