I love firefox 2.0 <3 <3 <3 it.
The only thing I hate is my favorite extension livehttpheaders doesnt work with it. After doing some research on firefox extensions I figured out I just needed to change the Max Version (I set it to 2.5) then I recompiled it and whola it works!
You can download it here if you are a livehttpheader junkie like me.
If you are wondering what livehttpheaders is… its a very cool Firefox extension that shows you all the data that is being passed between your computer and the world. Ever wonder what all info your sending to google using the google toolbar? What about that cool “seo” extension you just installed…
Well download livehttpheaders and look for yourself!

Yeah, Fiddler is THE tool to use. It’s unrivaled by any Firefox extension in that area. But the biggest drawback for me with Tamper Data and LiveHTTPHeaders is, that there’s no way to view the reply-body (and that’s nasty in situations with page refreshes and redirects)…

You don’t have to recompile anything. Use 7-zip to open the .xpi, go into the install.rdf and change the version from 1.5 to 3.0 and put it back in the archive. Duh.

I use Firefox and IE interchangably (Yeah, go ahead and yell. I don’t care. I know what works for me). Anyway, I just figured I’d mention Fiddler. It’s an unsupported MS product (free too) which has the same purpose as this Firefox plugin except that it works for both browsers (and a lot of other products which generate http traffic). In short, you run the program and it sets itself up as a transparent http proxy in your internet settings (Windows users only). It’s got a nice UI and shows you everything in real-time (requests with headers and any post data, reponses with encodings, headers, etc). In fact, it will even let you tweak the headers and replay http sessions (way cool). It’s a cool toy for your toolbox and can be very handy when doing analysis type tasks.

Shoe, you are an abosulte star. I blogged about affiliate friendly pulgins a while back and httpheaders is certianly one of my favourites. Was gutted when it didn’t work with FF2.
Cheers
Paul.

Yeah, this is a very good extension, but I prefer to use Fiddler for IE, it can show you 10 times more information. Try it

Shoemoney, how do i add this to firefox2? I copied the files from the zip into the Mozilla Firefox folder in program files. Should that work?

You should try to Tamper Data. Already updated for Firefox 2.0 and IMHO is a much better extension. I use to swear by LiveHTTPHeaders but ever since I’ve found Tamper Data it’s my new tool of choice.

I haven’t used livehttpheaders but will check it out. Firefox 2.0 is awesome though. No more major memory leak, awesome tab improvements and a built-in spell checker that is just right.

Hey Shoe, do you use Safari when you’re on a mac, or are you a Firefox guy no matter what machine you’re on?

Nice! Thanks – that was one of the few extensions I missed. Hopefully, Azoogle will update theirs soon.
I also ran across a few extensions where the authors had new releases on their site, but they weren’t available from the update sites yet.
