Correction to the SEOMOZ interview

by Jeremy Schoemaker on October 28, 2006 · 14 comments

In the SEOMOZ Interview I was quoted as saying:

I have sites (like dropload.com) which have over 4 million users.
Also, we launched dropcash.com 2 years ago and it did really well right off
the bat.”

What I should have said was:

I have worked with and tried to help monetize sites like dropload.com which have over 4 million users.
Also, they launched dropcash.com 2 years ago and it did really well right off
the bat.

It was a very small excerpt in the interview but I know it made the Shoemoney h8rs like Anil Dash’s day to see it and take some swings at me. Sure go ahead ;)

Apoligizes to Andre Torrez.

I have taken down any links to dropload or dropcash and am no longer associated with them in any way.

I will also cover this briefly on tuesdays radio show. I have invited Andre to come on the show also to clear up any confusion

wow look at Anil Dash come out of the wood work to take a swing at you and the industry as a whole. I forgot he existed until I saw you mention him then I looked at his blog only to see evidently everyone else forgot he existed as he has like 0 comments on everything he writes HAHA.

I thought it was a awesome interview shoe. The haters are only a sign that you are successful. I hope they will not keep you from doing more interviews like this in the future I thought the in site was really neat.

ShoeMoney I did some homework and look at the people that talked crap about you: lets see

whataliar seomoz userid 20967
anildash seomoz userid 20968
sneezy seomoz userid 20971
misterhorse seomoz userid 20972

Funny they all made new accounts to bash you. Probably all the same person to. All accounts made within minutes of each other. The price you pay for fame is people hate you sometimes!

I find Jeremy to be a very arrogant person. Pride comes before a fall.

There are affiliates like myself earning $500k+/month and we don’t uhmmmmm brag (for the lack of a better word) about it. You won’t see us holding our adsense checks for a pic.

Time to be humble.

“There are affiliates like myself earning $500k+/month and we don’t uhmmmmm brag …. won’t see us holding our adsense checks for a pic.”

Right. That’s a big shock that we won’t see people that lie about making $500k/mo posting pictures of non-existent checks.

Hey, I’ll join the club and won’t post pics of the $5,000,000 Adsense check Google doesn’t send me every month.

I know there ARE people making that per month, but everything about your post would seem to indicate that you’re not one of them.

Hey, sorry to take a swipe for a misunderstanding — Andre is a friend of mine, and I’m sure you can understand how we’re all passionate about our friends and their work.

“I forgot he existed until I saw you mention him then I looked at his blog only to see evidently everyone else forgot he existed as he has like 0 comments on everything he writes HAHA.”

You measure people by the number of comments on their blogs? HAHA. And at least I put my name on what I say so that I can be held accountable.

Also, I didn’t take a swing at the industry, I said that there should be some standards of self-enforcement because the reputation of the industry is terrible. It’s still true, and the fact you’re in denial about it is part of the problem.

your assumptions really make you look bad Anil.

This is a very good interview. I feel the same in some ways, trying to develop my new ideas in a world so competitive it takes real talent and luck to get started. I just launched a new ad site which is not 100% original, but I think it’s the best fusion between the most original ideas I found, my creativity and my skills.

That’s probably because you’ve got nothing to show for it.

People come to learn from Jeremy. That’s why we’re here. The only thing we’ve learned from you is that you’re jealous.
