6 Tips to Having A Successful Website

By Jeremy Schoemaker 19 comments

I was solo for this episode of Net Income but I had a agenda that I wanted to cover… It was my six tips on building a successful website.

I think this show sucked. I am not very good on my own…. I wish I would have had more time to prepare ;)

tell me what you think?

    [Constructive Feedback]
From my many years of public speaking and teaching others:
    1. Never draw attention to your lack of preparedness.
    2. Never say “you suck” even if you think you do.
    3. If you’re all alone, modify your approach. Don’t try to do the same things you would normally do when you would have 1 or 2 others. In this example, don’t try and read questions but tell people “no chat questions today, you have to call since I’m by myself”.

Here’s a tip. You never suck as badly as you think you do.

That said, you did a good job and you were able to convey some helpful information. Thanks for doing the shows.

I personally like to see you sharing your experience and knowledge regardless of any stumbling. Plus, that will fix itself with a bit of practice/additional shows.

I look (listen?) at podcasting like video games. Assuming that the podcast is just not completely unlistenable, I’m there for the content. Much like how a video game is much more than just flashy graphics.

I say keep it up. If you have more ideas that require you to fly solo or it just happens to work-out that way, who cares? If anyone has an issue with flubs and mistakes, then they are not serious about the content they should be listening for.

I´ve been told guys can´t multitask but you managed to keep the monologue running and answer a sh*tload of offtopic question. Either way its always entertaining - I feel like a groupie - I almost cried when you start the next hour with Oilman! (not!) Next time I´m ringing in my questions - gotta earn a T!

    Thanks Scott aka Scandic

Your target listeners are fine with how your show went. Knowing that you’re known for what you do, and not for how you broadcast is what makes people want to listen to you. You’re a money maker, not a broadcaster, you shouldnt be perfect.

Man it thought it was your best show. Those were real good points from a guy who makes it work. Shoe, you are just real and that is what makes it good. You even admint you fail from time to time, that is awsome.

    Great show!
The comments above are good too.

    I have a show idea—-
How exactly do you use azoogleads? I’m a newb to them lets say.
What are the steps to getting going with them.

Hi Shoemoney, I thought you offered some good advice for beginners / intermediates in affiliate website creation, and the show was a good listen as usual. Remember that most of us just listen to see what money making techniques you might give away, and aren’t so worried about how slick the production is - just drop a few top tips in and we’re happy. The show is great so keep it up.

Have a little self confidence. It was perfect until you actually started thinking that you were doing a bad job. It was still fine after, just a little distracting. ;)

Good show Shoe, thanks for sticking around for the extra hour! This was the first time that I had participated in the chat room and I found it to be a really enjoyable/useful experience.

I’m not going to blow smoke up your rump - It wasn’t as good as your shows normally are. You knew that already, I bet.

I agree with the advice above. Don’t call attention to unpreparedness, and if you make a mistake, just motor through without talking about it.

I think the idea of trying out a cohost is a good idea, although that wll depend on who they are and how they do their part of the job. If the first one doesn’t quite fit, keep trying till you find one that does.

The biggest problem with the show was that the advice was way more basic and more general than what you give out when you are on your best game. Your best shows so far were the ones with the guys from Pepperjam, and that was because they were pretty articulate guys with pretty advanced skills. That kept you and them talking at a high level. What makes your shows so great, when they are great, is that you aren’t recycling the same old, same old 100 time tested tips, but laying out in detail the advanced techniques you currently use.

The other problem, with no disrespect to Vincent, was that whoever was screening the calls was sending in calls that don’t really fit the topic of your show. I realize you know a lot more SEO than a lot of guys who call themselves SEO experts, but that’s not really your brand or the focus of your show. I would have whoever screens the calls do a more restrictive job and only allow calls that are on your topic. Otherwise, you get thrown off, and the show loses focus.

I also wouldn’t feel obligated to pick up every rusty nail in the chatroom. If someone raises a question that helps you, great, but as an on the air personality it’s ok to pick what you want and ignore the rest.

Don’t get me wrong - your shows are great. You’ve got a real talent, and your shows have been really helpful to me. I just figured that if you asked for feedback, you are the kind of guy who would rather have honestly felt feedback.

I agree that this week’s show was just fine….keep ‘em coming!

By the way, I’m only now starting to focus more heavily on monetizing my sites aside from my typical services. Thanks to you and your guests for all the great information.

I did find you a bit nervous and also your voice was dropping alot. IMO it does not matter really when
you are giving away such great tips for free. Two tips out of the 6 were really amazing.
