Wordpress eBay ads plugin

10 responses..

This week I am going to try to write a plugin for the shoemoney eBay ad system for wordpress. We have gotten pretty good feedback so far about payouts so looking into developing it a bit further.

In order to get this to work you must have a shoemoneyads account (its invite only but we let in about 500 new people a week. We just have to keep it moderated so we can expand hardware wise as needed and existing publishers do not have downtime)

Also you must have a comission junction account and also have applied and been accepted to the ebay.com program.

Keep in mind the program is still beta and I would not recomend it to websites that are already going really well with adsense/ypn. It seems to work better on niche websites.

If you want to play a bit to see what kind of ads would show up on your site you can use the shoemoney eBay ads sandbox tool

    shoe,
What this difference between this system and the new ebay adcontext that is in beta testing? In other words why does it need to be run through shoemoneyads?

this is not a compeditor to the eBay adcontext. If adcontext is working for you then stick with it.

This is not contextual… meaning you specify the keyword which the ads are targeted.

    This solves 2 issues…

1 - compliance with eBay. - eBay has certified our application which means we get unrestricted calls to there database.

2 - by using keyword targeting and not a contextual engine it is also ok to run with adsense and yahoo publisher network. This is one of the flaws in the adcontext system why we made the ebay ads into shoemoneyads

hmmm I do mostly perl/php/bash/ bash (unix shell programing) being my strongest.

I would sugest to start with C then go to c#, C++ and the rest will come easy. I never had a good object oriented foundation which I think is why im not a very efficient programer.

Why only for WordPress? Don’t you think that you are shutting down a lot of possible websites? Wouldn’t a Javascript be more appropriate?

    ShoeMoney Says:

it already is in javascript and supports every standard IAB size… where did we lose you ?

The title was “Wordpress eBay ads plugin” so I thought it was only for Wordpress.

    My Mistake.
