Thumbplay To Offer Ringtone Affililate Programs

I had a representative from Thumbplay call me this morning to talk to me about a new affiliate program they are launching. It sounds pretty hot. The starting tier is a 50% commission and a ongoing revenue stream for publishers.
Its going to be a while before its actually going to be publically available but I will post more as I test it. I asked him if he wanted to be a guest on the show and he said he would. Maybe sometime next month we can make that happen.
I really like the idea of ongoing revenue….. if only they would have had this going a year ago lol…

But how many people would signup, get their ringtones and then cancel kowing or not knowing thet will be rebilled?
I would think there would be more income with pay-per-signup rather than shared rev.
maybe?
Sounds great, I hope it will be available soon
It sounds like there is an one time commission PLUS the ongoing! I think thumbplay knows that an “new” affiliate model with only an ongoing revenue strem isn’t very attractive. Thumbplay want’s to grow fast, that’s why they increased commisions at all the networks.
Or am i wrong @ SHOE? One time commission plus ongoing or what?
Thumbplay is a great client of ours and we very much like the team at Thumbplay, but a 50% commission on ongoing revenue may not be the best scenario for search engine marketers. Let me explain why…
Almost all the mobile guys out there (Dada/Flycell/Blinko/Thumbplay etc) charge $9.99 for the services they provide to consumers. Out of this $9.99, approximately 50% is paid to carriers that allow these 3rd parties to bill their userbase. This means, that the 3rd party provider will only get about $4-5 per month, per user, of which you will get 50%, or about $2 to $2.50 per month. The reality is, however, that not all consumers that sign up today remain customers of the service forever, so customers unsubscribe month over month. Because of this, it typically takes about 6-8 months for the 3rd party provider to recover the costs that they pay to publishers for acquisition. At the $2-$2.50 per month rate, it will take you the same, 6-8 months to earn the commission that you would get UP FRONT by simply running a CPA deal. If your website gets a lot of free organic traffic, then you can definitely benefit from this as you can potentially earn more than the up-front CPA (since not all consumers are unsubscribed after 6-8 months). If, however, you pay for search engine traffic UP FRONT, are you really going to be willing to wait 6-8 months to make your money back? If you are a search engine marketer, you’d be best off running a Thumbplay CPA offer, their offer converts well.
This may work out. Not sure. I can tell you many affiliate marketers I know are making a killing off of the revshare or rebills in the dating sector.
” if only they would have had this going a year ago lol…”..
Yeah - you wish !
Ditto
Isn’t the affiliate program already up? Or are you talking about a new affilliate program yet to be launched?
