Yes, I Am Running eBay Ads

Posted on: August 21st, 2006 by Jeremy Schoemaker

Ok ive got like so many emails about this…

Yes the ads on the right are eBay ads through commission junction. They are contextual looking but I opted to use the keyword version targeting, specifically “search engine seo” and not the contextual engine which would violate TOS with google/ypn if i wanted to use them. (similar to chitika)

Anyone know if CJ is still expecting foreigners to get US Tax IDs? Thats what has kept me out – this little black duck isn’t mailing a passport away!

Very interested in hearing about those ebay ads. I have been thinking about adding them to a few of my sites lately.

Btw, why dont you stick the delicious, digg and other links in your comments.php file so they show up in the individual post only and not on your main page.

I guess you are testing those ebay ads.
Your report on conversion of them would be very appreciated.

Thank you for informing me about this change !

    hm, where is my comment?

i just wanted to add that there is an ebay program in germany, called ebay relevance ad, which is contextual and compatible with google adsense.

I’ve not looked at these before now, but it’s a great idea – I’ve got a couple of sites that these would rock on. Is there any geo-targetting possible with it? Say someone in the UK is looking at the ads, they get sent to ebay.co.uk instead of the .com?

the ironic trend of popularity is that the more popular you get for being smart… the dumber your fan base becomes.

In germany ebay offers contextual “ebay relevance ads” since months, which are ok to use on the same page as adsense (according to e-mails from google).
But i took them off because of poor performance and long load-times.

Possible… Depends if dillsmack wants to co-host the show again. He wrote the code that makes it work.

To be more accurate, the affiliate program goes through CJ.

The developer program is through eBay, but you don’t get paid by the developer program.

    about 18 hours.

It is hit and miss. I dont think on average on my blog it will beat ypn/adsense

Why though CJ instead of directly through the eBay affiliate program?

Nice Shoe. I’ve been running Ebay ads on a video game portal of mine and they actually perform quite well. Good luck with yours!
