I am done with Best Buy

by Jeremy Schoemaker on March 19, 2006 · 17 comments

When I first decided I wanted to do video blog casts I decided to purchase a Sony HD video camera. So of course they do not have the one I want and I have to order it. Its now several days and after 10+ hours on the phone at various times (there hold times are FRICKING ridicules) I have gone back and got a refund.

I then purchased one on amazon with FREE OVERNIGHT shipping and 150$ less then Best Buy.

I managed to record the final call with Best Buy and cast it.

Ha – yup, I wasted about an hour or so of my time trying to buy a $2K big screen TV from Best Buy and they had no idea what they were doing – store saying one thing and customer support from the main office saying something else.

I ended up buying a projector TV from somewhere else the next day (300″ TV is sweet). Dumb asses.

10 hours? You’ve got a lot of patience; I’d be done after about 15.

humm yes customer service sucks and there is nothing worse than getting passed around and having to repeat your self.

You should try living in Spain, I’m still waiting for a package (now 3 months) and it was a 2-3 day delivery :-)

p.s not sure you should of left your phone number on, you will end up with random calls asking for seo help :-)

Dude, I had such a bad expereince with BB myself and I promised myself I would never shop there again. Long story short: bought a $5K TV there, they f-d up 7 times in the time from when I bought it and when it arrived, they promised me $500 in gift cards & refunds, and I never saw any of them. Then it was too late to return the TV.

Never again.

I had a similar situation when I purchased my HDTV. They kept saying that it had to be ordered and such. I finally received it from Amazon as well.

Ah man, it’s bad enough when this kinda thing happens to me. I can’t believe I listened to your entire torturous call with Best Buy. Anyway, the acting was great man. You got my vote for an Academy Award. Too bad you didn’t write more about this, so it might appear on the CEO of BB’s desktop. Hopefully, some executive from Best Buy cares about their corporate reputation, and will fix this problem.

Yeah, I don’t know whats sadder, you being on hold for 20 mins, or me actually watching you being on hold for 20 mins. For some reason I feel a sense of shame.

Yep, I do not even go in stores anymore, even if it means spending a few extra to have stuff shipped to my door. In most cases it is less.

I ordered a fridge from Best Buy and never received it. I called them and they informed me that the fridge is discontinued. I asked why they did not contact me and was passed around. I eventually got them to deliver the next model up for no additional cost. If I did not contact them, they were never going to deliver the fridge and had no plans to let me know or refund my money.

Best Buy apparently now rates their customers based on stuff like how much they return and things like that.
I have heard some people have had better luck in the early 90s returning things to Best Buy. Apparently then you didn’t even need a driver’s license.

Dude, they price gouge so bad… Jake and I went to buy some stupid cord (I’m not the gadget chick, so I don’t know exactly what) – a 10 inch cord – and they charged us almost 120 bucks for it. INSANE. But, they’re not as bad as staples…. don’t even get me started on staples…
