A 200-seat 767-200 is making 75mpg per passenger at most economic speed of 530 mph at full occupancy (or 1410 gallons per hour). Of course Prius is 3 times more fuel efficient on a (paved) road, but you will have a heck of a hard time crossing Atlantic or Rocky Mountains, which makes this argument just silly on your part, Jeremy. Besides, these guys understand math all right: if you convince enough employees to switch to hybrids, you can enjoy a fast jet ride and still make a POSITIVE impact on the environment. By the way, the jet fuel (kerosene) is half the price of the cheapest gas, so the cost difference does not sound all that outrageous if you fly far enough. All the above, of course, assumes that Larry and Sergey take some company along when they fly. If they fly solo (duo ;-)), then the calculations do not sound that favorable. Also, the particular 767 is being converted into a 50-seater which will further affect the calculations.
